Week 11 Previews

Anderson Brewmeisters
at
Jody's C.W.O.T.
(5 - 5)
(6 - 4)
series history: Anderson leads 6-1
last meeting: Week 8
Jody 42, ANDERSON 54

Week 11 kicks off with arguably the most heated - and lopsided - rivalry in the East as the Anderson Brewmeisters visit Jody's Colossal Waste of Time. The Brewmeisters had their three-game win streak snapped last week by the Banshees, while the C.W.O.T. have won two in a row to pull into a first place tie with The Pimps. Three weeks ago, Anderson bested Jody for the sixth time in seven meetings, but the Brewskies have found winning on the road to be a difficult task in 2000, sporting a dismal 1-4 record away from home. Moreover, trends show that Anderson will have to put high numbers on the board to get the win - they're 5-0 when scoring at least 30 points and 0-5 when not. The last meeting was an offensive affair that saw both teams combine for nearly 100 points, but expect Jody and its Miami defense to do everything in its power keep Anderson's offensive weapons at bay. The C.W.O.T., however, will be without a weapon of their own as Stephen Davis will be out on a bye. Can Jody get over its Anderosn curse, or will the Brewmeisters use the C.W.O.T. as their personal tackling dummies en route to the playoff berth? Stay tuned.

victims of the bye week:
Anderson - none
Jody - QB Johnson, RB Davis

B.Y.O.B.
at
The Pimps
(4 - 6)
(6 - 4)

series history: Brandon leads 1-0
last meeting: Week 9
Pimps 32, at B.Y.O.B. 38

How big of a game has this become for The Pimps? The defending Eastern champs are reeling, having lost four straight games, two of those to expansion teams. These spunky Banshees clipped The Pimps 38-32 just two short weeks ago and will be gunning for the inconceivable series sweep. At 4-6, Brandon is still entertaining playoff aspirations while The Pimps seemed to have had the division wrapped up midway through the year. A second loss to the Banshees could put even a playoff appearance in doubt. The Banshee's Rich Gannon is hot, leading an rapidly improving offense into battle. However, there will be questions on defense for B.Y.O.B. as their reliable Redskin squad have the week off. The Pimps have proven they're capable of putting up numbers, and there is no longer any time but the present to do so. With Anderson and Jody on the horizon, the Banshees cannot be overlooked.

victims of the bye week:
B.Y.O.B. - DEF Washington
Pimps - QB George

Thomas' Bock Boys
at
Sims Stereco
(5 - 5)
(5 - 5)
series history: first meeting

Thomas' Bock Boys have been one of the biggest surprises in the FLF this season, and are only one game shy of mathematically qualifying for the playoffs. Their opponent this week, the battered Stereco, are also looking for that elusive sixth victory. Unfortunately, they're having to do so without a starting quarterback and with only two available receivers. Thomas put a beating on The Players last week while Sims was on the receiving end of one administered by Jody. Could this week be a repeat performance? In perhaps the cruelest irony, the Bock Boys could start Trent Green, who is seeing action in the NFL because Kurt Warner, Sims' starting QB, is out with injury. The Stereco are crippled, but I wouldn't expect the ambitious Bock Boys to show any mercy.

victims of the bye week:
Thomas - none
Sims - REC Connell

Piana Raze
at
The Players
(5 - 5)
(2 - 8)
series history: Piana leads 5-3
last meeting: Week 5
Piana 25, at PLAYERS 43

The Players were eliminated from playoff consideration last week by the Bock Boys, but they could have plenty of pull in the playoff landscape with upcoming games against Piana, Jody, and the Machines. The Raze are actually one of two teams that have fallen to The Players this season, and are looking to avenge that loss while breaking back into the win column. These two clubs met in last season's Draft Bowl, and while The Players are currently heading for a second straight appearance, Piana is fighting for a playoff spot. Terrell Davis finally made a healthy return for the Raze last week and will be called upon to lead the charge. The Players will counter with veteran Emmitt Smith and first-year phenom Jeff Garcia in hopes of snapping their current five-game losing streak.

victims of the bye week:
Piana - none
Players - none

Game of the Week
Irwin Hellions
at
Abstract Machines
(7 - 3)
(5 - 5)
series history: Irwin leads 6-3
last meeting: Week 8
Machines 34, IRWIN 57

The Hellions have surged to the top of the FLF behind a strong and balanced offensive attack underwritten by the league's best defense. Irwin has built a two-game cushion in the West over the Abstract Machines, Thomas, and Piana. Conveniently enough, the Hellions close their season with games against the Machines, Thomas, and Piana. The Machines come into this week riding a pair of consecutive divisional wins and believe the West is still within their grasp. A loss here, however, and they'll be reduced to scrapping for a wild card berth.

Despite signs of superiority, Irwin has struggled on the road, with all three of their losses coming away from home. Yet the Machines seem to have the greater handicap this week, having to go without the services of an injured Marshall Faulk. They'll need another phenomenal performance from their St. Louis defense if they hope to score the upset over the division leaders. The Hellions could clinch the West this week with a win and some help from around the league. Let's get it on!

victims of the bye week:
Irwin - none
Machines - none
