The Bock Boys snapped The Pimps' eight-game regular season win streak
with a gutsy performance against the Eastern leaders on a neutral site.
The Viking duo of quarterback Daunte Culpepper and running back Robert
Smith combined for 26 points, accounting for more than half of the Bock
Boys' total production. For the first time all season, The Pimps struggled
mightily with the ball, producing only 34 offensive points - with 15 by
way of Rod Smith's heroic performance. The Pimps were also bested on the
defensive side of the ball 11-1, squashing any hopes for a defensive comeback.
The loss is the first of the year for The Pimps, yet they retain a healty
two-game lead over their closest divisional rival. The win is huge for
the Bock Boys, pushing their record to 4-3 and elevating them into sole
possesion of second-place in the West.

The Piana Raze turned in one of the best overall team performances of
the season and avenged many a loss to Jody's Colossal Waste of Time in
grand fashion. Quarterback Brian Griese torched the C.W.O.T. secondary
for 17 points while the ground duo of Ty Wheatley and Jamal Anderson combined
for an additional 18 points. Jody's running tandem of Stephen Davis and
Eddie George posted an equally impressive 17 points, but couldn't get
the same offensive support as the Raze.
Yet the biggest and most impressive battle of the game was a defensive
classic. Piana's New Orleans defense traded blows with Jody's unheralded
Bronco squad. When the smoke cleared, the Saints had claimed a 29-20 victory
to ensure the win for the resurgent Raze.

The rematch of Super Bowl III ended in similar fashion
to its predecessor with the Brewmeisters claiming another win over the
Abstract Machine franchise. Strong performances from Peyton Manning, Mike
Vanderjagt, and Mike Anderson led to the Brewmeisters' best offensive
showing of the season. Machine Marshall Faulk was his usual self, posting
an amazing 17 points in the losing effort; the rest of the Machine offense
could only muster an additional 19. The loss is the third straight for
the slumping Machines, who now find themselves under .500 for the first
time since Week 1. The Brewmeisters' win lifts their record to 3-4, three
games back of the Eastern-leading Pimps.

The Sims Stereco outran The Players for their fourth win of the season.
Kurt Warner contributed 13 points, Terrell Owens, 11, and Ricky Williams
punched in another 15 for the Stereco. The Players' Jeff Garcia actually
played head and shoulders above Kurt Warner with a dominating 19-point
effort, but the rest of The Players could only muster a measly 14. Despite
winning the defensive battle 10-5, The Players lose for the second straight
week and fall into sole possession of the Western Division basement. With
the win, Sims finally breaks above .500 and moves into a second-place
tie with Jody in the East.

With the Tampa Bay defense idle this week, Hellions
GM Chis Irwin went out and signed the defense with the best available
matchup: the Pittsburgh Steelers against the lowly Bengals. The one-week
substitute payed major dividends for the Western-leading Hellions, stripping
20 points away from the wavering Banshees and securing a rout over the
Eastern's expansion club. Donovan McNabb, making his first start for Irwin,
scored an impressive 13 points, but the real story of the game came from
behind him. Edgerrin James hammered out a career-best 20 points and Curtis
Martin nearly matched him with 17 as the Hellion backfield could have
nearly won the game on its own. The win, Irwin's third straight, moves
them to 5-2 and lkeeps tham a game up on the Bock Boys. The loss is the
B.Y.O.B.'s fifth straight, leaving them with only one win through the
first half of the season.
