The Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

THE PIMPS
34
Jody's C.W.O.T.
12

In a season saturated with trash-talking and bragging, The Pimps have kept quiet and allowed their performance on gameday to speak for them. Jody became the latest opponent to get a ear-full, as the C.W.O.T. were hammered on their own field by an efficeint and relentless Pimp team.

No offensive player scored less than 4 points or more than 11 for The Pimps. The defense posted a modest 13, and yet Jody never really got close. The C.W.O.T. struggled hard, with only Eddie George breaking the five-point barrier (7), and Jake Plummer self-destructing to the tune of -4. In a game in which it needed their best performance, Jody delivered its worst of the year, and The Pimps took advantage.

The win - The Pimps' fourth straight over Jody - elevates them to 4-0 while Jody drops to two games back at 2-2. With already two divisional losses, it could be an uphill battle the rest of the way for the C.W.O.T.

Thomas' Bock Boys
14
THE PLAYERS
30

Fielding a team short a receiver, The Players stepped up against the expansion Bock Boys and scored their first win of 2000. Quarterback Jeff Garcia nearly beat Thomas himself, scoring an inspired 18 points in the win. The Bock Boys' struggles away from home continued; Jeff Blake could only produce 4 points while the highly touted Titan defense only posted 8 and were easily bested by The Players' Patriot squad (14 points aginst). The only highlight for Thomas was the strong play of first-round pick Jamal Lewis, who produced a team-high 8 points on the ground. Yet the game belonged to The Players, who rallied around their owner for a huge win:
Son 1, Father 0.

Irwin Hellions
24
A. BREWMEISTERS
40

What goes around often comes around, and Irwin is finding that out the hard way. After using defense to dominate their first two opponents, the Hellions run into their second straight defensive onslaught and quickly find their record evened at 2-2. Anderson's Raven defense - dormant the first three weeks - exploded for 29 points against, putting Irwin in a seemingly inescapable hole. Yet the Hellion offense, anchored by Edgerrin James and Jimmy Smith, mounted a serious Monday night comeback. Then came the Kid. Peyton Manning answered his critics with a Warner-esque 19-point performance to outlast the Hellions and secure the win. The Brewmeisters improve to 2-2 and remain two games off the pace in the East. Irwin, on the heels of consecutive losses, finds itself a game back in the West.

ABSTRACT MACHINES
15
Piana Raze
10

The Machines offense sputtered for the first time this season, but the Rams defense took up the slack in capturing the team's third straight victory. Piana, who was stripped of 25 points last week against Irwin, was robbed of a massive 29 points by the Machines' relentless defense. Moreover, Piana had to go without a quarterback as Brian Griese pulled himself out of the lineup. Yet despite these sizeable setbacks, the Raze held a three-point lead going into Monday night. It was a lead that was very short-lived, as it took only one 76-yard touchdown reception by Marvin Harrison to secure the win for the Machines. With losses by Irwin and Thomas, the Machines find themselves alone atop the Western Division with a 3-1 record.

SIMS STERECO
46
B.Y.O.B.
31

Something finally went right for the injury-stricken Stereco. Newbies Terrell Owens and Ryan Longwell combined for 28 points as Sims downed the Yellow-bellied Overweight Banshees in an Eastern Division clash. Kurt Warner had his biggest day as a member of the Stereco, cashing in 17 points towards the win. The Banshees played a much better game than the previous week, and actually found a ground game in Charlie Garner (15 points), yet take their third loss of the season. Sims squares its record at 2-2, and B.Y.O.B. now find themselves alone in the Eastern division cellar.
