| The Colossal
Waste of Time was looking to sweep the season
series with the Anderson Brewmeisters, as well
as put some distance between themselves and the
rest of the division. That didn’t happen,
as the Brewmeisters finally found a winning combination
and scored their most points of the season against
their favorite rivals. With QB Peyton Manning
leading the way with 15 points, the Brew Krew
managed their third win of the season, blowing
out the C.W.O.T. by a score of 52-30 at home.
The Brewskies got significant contributions from
six of their seven offensive players, with running
back LaDanian Tomlinson coming to life to post
11 points, easily his season best. WR Steve Smith/CAR
likewise had his season high, with 8, and kicker
Ryan Longwell tallied 9. Pierre Garcon added
6 fourth quarter points, as he and Manning made
sure the Brew put the Time Wasters down for the
count in the fourth quarter.
The C.W.O.T. just didn’t seem up for this
game, which is understandable, given the Brewmeisters’ horrid
record of 2-6-1 coming in. Only running backs
Steven Jackson, Ronnie Brown, and receiver T.J.
Hoosyermama provided meaningful offense for the
Jodys, with Jackson leading the team with a season-best
12 points, Brown adding 6, and T.J. bringing
home 8 as the C.W.O.T. tried in vain to erase
a 20 point fourth quarter deficit. The Brew Krew
even had a rare defensive win, with their Arizona
D stripping 9 from the C.W.O.T., while Jody’s
Steelers could manage only 8 takeaway points.
Having increased their total wins by 50%, the
Brewmeisters now stand at 3-6-1, with technically
a chance for the playoffs; but, realistically,
more likely will still be headed for Draft Bowl
XIII, especially with the likely season ending
concussion to team leader Brian Westbrook. The
C.W.O.T. managed not to lose ground in the Eastern
division, due to the second place Naughty Figs
and third place Sims Stereco also losing.

| In a 4th quarter
comeback of near historic proportions, the Piana
Raze erased a 20 point deficit and beat the Naughty
Figs 26 – 23 on the road. The Raze looked
like toast after a 20 points-against defensive
performance from the Figs’ Packers and
a pair of double-digit performances from receiver
Brandon Marshall (13) and kicker Stephen Gostkowski
(10). But Figs quarterback Jay Cutler was pitiful,
scoring a -4, while Brian’s Ben Roethlisberger
was merely awful, with a 2. The Raze matched
the Figs with two players in double digits, as
Raze receiver Reggie Wayne had a team high 12,
and RB Maurice Jones-Drew posted a 10. But the
game was ultimately won on defense, where Brian’s
Ravens matched Brandon’s Packers with 20
against, and scored the game winning 3 points
on a 48 yard DTD – all in the 4th quarter.
Who’d have thought.
The surprising loss leaves the Figs at 4-5-1,
and still a game and a half back of the C.W.O.T.
in the East, with just three to play. The Raze
go to 5-4-1, and are solidly in the hunt for
a playoff berth, needing just one win in the
final three weekends to qualify.

The Thomas Bock
Boys took another step towards the playoffs,
by beating an undermanned Hellions team 35 – 31
at the Bockyard. Leading the way for the Boys
was kicker David Akers, with 11 points, and receiver
Sidney Rice, who picked a good time to post a
season-best 10. Thomas might have ridden the
hot hand of quarterback Carson Palmer one too
many games, as Palmer managed only 4 this time;
however, the Hellions had no one to replace Andre
Johnson’s productivity while he was out
on bye, and managed only 40 offensive points – 13
from quarterback Donovan McNabb. Running backs
Ray Rice (8) and DeAngelo Williams (7) teamed
up for 15 points, but Chris’s Eagles D
was not up to the task, picking a bad day to
score a season low 4 takeaway points. Thomas’s
Dallas D took 9 away from the Hellions, and with
it the win.
Still stuck in a tie for third in the West,
the 5-4-1 Bock Boys moved one game closer to – and
only one game away from – playoff qualification.
And since the weak sisters of the East don’t
seem capable of closing out games at this point,
six wins just might Git ‘er Done. The Hellions,
now on a three-game losing streak, no longer
look like the world beaters they did in late
October, when they stood undefeated at 7-0.

| An 8 point 4th
quarter lead evaporated with a Randy Moss receiving
explosion, as the Pimps won for just the third
time this season, coming from behind to best
the Sims Stereco 45-43. Moss scored 15 points
in the fourth, to earn team-high honors for the
Pimps and become the fourth Pimp in double digits.
QB Kurt Warner had 13, RB Adrian Peterson scored
10, and bye week fill-in kicker Ryan Suckup also
posted a 10. Wasted was Stereco running back
Chris Johnson’s Player Of The Week score
of 18, and stablemate Joe Addai’s 9, as
Drew Brees scored only 6 – the fourth straight
week he’s been held under 9. But it’s
hard to say this game was won or lost at quarterback,
as the Pimps’ Dolphins defense outscored
Sims’ Jets D 12-7 in takeaway points. 62
total points will normally win a game, but not
this time for the Stereco, as they take a tough
loss.
With both teams ahead of them in the Eastern
division also losing, the Stereco didn’t
lose any divisional ground; but, they’re
now a game behind three other teams (Raze, AM’s,
and Bock Boys) in the race for a wild card slot
in the post season. The tough luck Pimps are
still ½ game from shedding sole possession
of the Eastern division cellar, as their likely
Draft Bowl XIII opponents – the Anderson
Brewmeisters – also won.

| The surging
Abstract Machines won their fourth game in a
row to remain solidly in the playoff hunt, this
time with a 38 – 22 hammering of Pirkle’s
Wicked Oil Profiteer$. Thanks to the toe of Jeff
Reed (12 points) and the arm of Brett Favre (10
points), the Machines were able to overcome a
lackluster performance from their Saints defense,
which managed a DTD, but just 3 points-against.
Paul’s Vikings D easily won the defensive
war, with 10 takeaway points, but the offense
was pretty much a dry hole for the Profiteer$,
save for kicker Dan Carpenter’s 14 game-high
points. Quarterback Tony Romo was not so wicked,
with 5 points – and he was second to Carpenter
in scoring for the Oilmen, as their five other “offensive” players
managed just six points between them, wasting
Paul’s chance to catch the Irwin Hellions
for first in the West.
The once forlorn Abstract Machines took ten
weeks to do it; but, they’ve finally evened
their record, at 5-5. They are only one game
away from playoff eligibility, a thought which
was laughable four weeks ago. Pirk’s Profiteer$,
still in second place in the West, are just a
game ahead of the Machines now, at 6-4.
