Week 10 Previews

Jody's C.W.O.T. at The Pimps
(6 - 3)   (1 - 8)
series history: Pimps lead 13-11
last meeting: Week 6
Pimps 27, at JODY 33

The regular season's final month kicks off with a week of divisional play, beginning with The Pimps hosting Jody's Colossal Waste of Time. Coming off a rout of the Profiteer$, Jody enters Week 10 at 6-3, playoff eligible and looking to gain ground on the division-leading Naughty Figs. The Pimps almost pulled out an upset of the Figgies last week, but ultimately lost their league-leading eighth game of the season.

Both these clubs have continued their paths set in 2007. Jody won the Eastern division last year with a modest 7-6 mark and made it all the way to the Super Bowl. This season, thanks in part to the unlikely emergence of Aaron Rodgers, they're in position to post their fourth consecutive winning season. The Pimps, meanwhile, seem destined to miss out on the playoffs for the fourth straight year. What's worse, they're flirting with a franchise-worst record unless they can win a couple of more games. While they used to own the series against the Pewter & Black, they've now lost of seven of eight heading into this matchup.

victims of the bye week:

The Pimps – RB Dunn, REC Witten, REC Galloway, REC Miles, DEF Washington

Sims Stereco at Abstract Machines
(2 - 7)   (4 - 5)
series history: Machines lead 12-2-1
last meeting: Week 7, 2007
Sims 35, vs MACHINES 41

The lone interdivisional game on the board pits the lowly Sims Stereco against the low-but-climbing Abstract Machines. Sims is coming off a 17-point loss to the Bock Boys that dropped them to 2-7 and on the cusp of playoff ineligibility. The Machines rocked the Raze last week to post their second straight win and place them back into the playoff conversation.

Sims, it seems – along with Piana and The Pimps – is now playing to stay out of the Draft Bowl. They'll at least have Drew Brees available to play this week following his bye. But can he lead the Stereco past the Machines' ravenous Giants D, which has posted three straight 25+ point outings. On offense, Bernard Berrian and Tim Hightower have emerged as viable offensive weapons for the Machines, who seem to finally be steadying the ship after losing Tom Brady. Their odds seem particularly good for a win this week; the AM's hold the most lopsided series edge over any opponent by any team, having bested the Stereco 12 times in 15 previous meetings. Oh, snap!

Irwin Hellions at P.W.O.P.
(4 - 5)   (6 - 3)
series history: Irwin leads 14-10
last meeting: Week 1
P.W.O.P. 27, at IRWIN 34

The Irwin Hellions and Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ meet in Oil Town this week, with each team looking to look to break back into the win column. The Hellions started the season well enough, winning three of their first five games. But they've now dropped three of their last four – including three straight at Purgatory Field – to slip outside the current playoff picture. P.W.O.P., meanwhile, has watched a two-game lead in the West evaporate after dropping two of their past three.

Despite those recent losses to The Pimps and C.W.O.T., the Profiteer$ retain the best divisional record in the West, at 4-1. That lone loss came in Week 1, when the Hellions took them down in the Hellhole. Pirk is eager to avenge that loss and rebuild some momentum heading into the final month. After practically forfeiting last week's game with a handicapped lineup, P.W.O.P. will welcome Philip Rivers and Vincent Jackson back into the fold. Irwin, who also played a man short last week, will likely need points from all positions to capture a season sweep over the Profiteer$.

Irwin – RB Jones, REC C. Johnson, DEF Tampa Bay
P.W.O.P. – QB Romo

Piana Raze at Thomas' Bock Boys
(2 - 7)   (6 - 3)
series history: Thomas leads 10-9
last meeting: Week 2
THOMAS 46, at Piana 30

The Piana Raze head into Bockville to take on the hottest team in the league, Thomas' Bock Boys. The Boys have won four straight to climb into a first-place with P.W.O.P., while the Raze have now dropped three in a row to fall to 2-7 and out of realistic playoff contention.

These two clubs last met in Week 2, with Hurricane Ike slamming into the Texas Gulf Coast. Ike forced the late postponement of BAL-HOU, leaving the Raze without a defense. Thomas took out the shorthanded Raze then and may have a similar opportunity now. While Piana will certainly have a defense ready to go for the rematch, it's possible they'll be without a quarterback. All three of their signal callers – Matt Schaub, Kyle Orton, and Ben Roethlisburger – were injured in the first halves of games last week and may each be out for an extended period of time. This, of course, id good news for the Bock Boys, who are in position to defend their Western Division title with a strong finish to the season.

victims of the bye week:
Piana – REC Owens, K Suisham
Thomas – QB Palmer, RB Barber, REC Bryant, DEF Dallas

Game of the Week
Naughty Figs at Anderson Brewmeisters
(8 - 1)   (6 - 3)
series history: Anderson leads 12-6
last meeting: Week 6
Anderson 13, at FIGS 33

The Eastern Division race could come into greater focus this week, with the division-leading Naughty Figs looking to eliminate the Anderson Brewmeisters from contention when they visit the Brew Krew at Saint Arnold Stadium. Anderson finally returns home following five weeks on the road, and although they went a respectable 3-2 over that span, they failed to gain ground on the surprising Figs.

Combined, these two clubs are 9-1 in the East, with that only loss resulting from the Figs 33-13 victory over Anderson in Week 6. Another Fig win this week would put Anderson three games back with three to play, but the season sweep would eliminate Anderson from the divisional race. Should the Figs win and Jody fall to The Pimps, then the Purple & White would claim their first ever division crown after just 10 weeks of play.

The Figs have already clinched a playoff berth (just their second in nine seasons) but would love to secure a title and first round bye. Anderson is playoff eligible, and – as they showed last season – even the No. 6 seed can run the table in the postseason. But the regular season is about division titles, and Anderson remains in the hunt. Peyton Manning looks to follow up from last week's 12-point effort with another strong showing, but he'll be facing the Figs very own Steeler defense, which ambushed The Pimps last week to deliver a win for the division-leaders. Talk about your must-see Sunday afternoon TV.

victims of the bye week:
Figs – RB Portis, REC Williams, REC Crayton, K Folk
Anderson – QB Campbell
