| The Anderson
Brewmeisters seemed primed for an upset last
weekend, but the divisional rivals Sims Stereco
let them off the hook. Courtesy of another lackluster
defensive performance by their Chargers D, which
managed a measly 3-against, the Brewmeisters
were up by 11 at the end of the third quarter.
With Sims’ QB Drew Brees and receiver L.
Moore yet to play, the lead looked anything but
solid; however, Chris once again managed to snatch
defeat from the jaws of victory, as Brees and
Moore combined for only 6 points, to make the
final score 43 – 38 in favor of the Brewmeisters.
At least the Stereco managed to keep it close
this time.
Leading the Brewmeisters for the second straight
game was rookie kicking sensation Matt Prater
(DEN), with 11 points. QB Peyton Manning played
well, adding 9, while RB Brian Westbrook returned
to form with 8, and newly acquired receiver Isaac
Bruce added 8 as well. In fact, all three of
the Brewskies’ receivers tallied 5 or more,
and the team needed every one, as LaDanian Tomlinson
stubbed his toe again (3 points) and the aforementioned
Bolts D struggled once again.
Sims was led by receiver Larry Fitzgerald, with
9, while RB Joe Addai and kicker Rob Bironas
added 7 each. But that’s pretty much where
the offense ended. The Stereco’s Jaguars
D started off with a pic return for a DTD, but
then couldn’t hold Pittsburgh in check,
and finished with a 6-against and the TD.
The Brewmeisters improve to 4-1 with the win,
keeping pace with the undefeated Naughty Figs
and setting up a juicy matchup with the Figs
for the Eastern division lead this weekend. The
Stereco fall to 1-4, four games back in the East,
and needing a big turnaround to stay in the playoff
hunt.

| The Irwin Hellions
played just good enough to hand the Pimps another
in a long string of losses last weekend, winning
a game played with no noticeable defense, 44 – 39.
The Hellions got double-digit production from
QB Eli Manning (11) and receiver Andre Johnson
(10) who picked a good time to post his best
score of the five week old season. Pimps QB Jake
Delhomme, receiver Randy Moss, and kicker Kris
Brown countered with 9’s, and tight end
Jason Witten added 7; but, no other Pimp managed
more than 2 – hence, another defeat, the
Pimps 5th straight this season. Defensively,
the Hellions’ Eagles scored a DTD, but
managed no takeaway points, while the Pimps’ Redskins
took only 2 back from the Hellions.
Winners for the second straight weekend, the
Hellions now find themselves alone in 2nd place
in the West, still a game down the Pirkle’s
Wicked Oil Profiteer$, while the losing and luckless
Pimps are shoring up the bottom of the division.
Some Pimps players had better get a fire lit
quickly, or the season will be a gonner before
it’s half over.

t was Week 5,
so it was bound to mean a defeat for the ‘Boys.
Still smarting from yet another loss to divisional
rivals the Anderson Brewmeisters, Jody’s
C.W.O.T. virtually kicked the barley out of the
visiting Thomas Bock Boys, by a score of 37 – 16.
The biggest time waster of the week was, in fact,
kicker John “T” Carney, leading the
winners with 14 points on three field goals and
5 PATs. Receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Hey! I
got it right the first time!) added 10, while
Jody’s new field general J.T. O’Sullivan
and RB Frank “TJ” Gore added 7 each,
to give the home team a commanding early lead.
Many fans wanted to see Thomas play Carson Palmer
at QB, but the former C.W.O.T.’er vs. former
Bock Boy angle didn’t materialize. Thomas
started Dave Garrard instead, and Garrard tried
mightily to rally the visitors from the gears
of defeat; but, though his 8 points led the team,
the two sevens from wide receivers Greg Jennings
and Donald Driver were the only other TBB scores
over 4. Bock Boys’ Cowboy defense, at 12
against, was no match for Jody’s Bears,
who turned in their best performance of the first
five weeks, with a DTD and 19 takeaway points.
It all added up to another odd week defeat for
Thomas, whose team has won on week 2 and 4 and
lost the other three times. Now at 2-3, and tied
with the Machines for third in the West, the
Bock Boys are the odds-on favorite to go even
up next weekend, when they host the Irwin Hellions.
Maintaining their two-game deficit to the undefeated
Naughty Figs, the C.W.O.T., are at 3-2, and still
very much in the hunt in the East.

Machines home crowd and wide receiver Bernard
Berrian tried mightily to put the first bruise
on the Naughty Figs last weekend, but it was
just not to be, as the Figs escaped a 4th quarter
comeback by the AM’s to take a 1 point
victory, which keeps them undefeated. Up by 12
going into the last quarter, having done all
the damage they could, the Figs were forced to
sweat it out as Berrian played his best game
of the season. But Berrian’s team-high
9 points – ever so close – was not
quite enough.
The Figs were led by RB Clinton Portis, posting
his second 11 point game of the season. Portis
was supported with 9’s from QB J. Cutler
and receiver Lee Evans, and 7 from kicker Nick
Folk. The Machines countered with Berrian’s
9 and a trio of 8’s, from QB Chad Pennington,
RB T. Hightower, and kicker Jeff Reed. Brandon’s
Steelers D stripped 10 away from the Machines,
while Russ’s Giants returned the favor
plus 2.
The Machines fall into a Western division 3rd
place tie with the Thomas Bock Boys, at 2-3.
The undefeated Figs are still a game up on the
Brewmeisters in the East, and will host the Brew
Krew this weekend in what has to be the Game
of the Week.

| The Piana Raze
once again rolled the dice on quarterback, and
again came up short, taking a zero from a knocked-out
Trent Edwards while leaving an unlucky 13 Ben
Rothlisberger points on the bench. It cost them
the game, as the hometown Raze lost to the visiting
Wicked Oil Profiteer$, 33 – 29, and, more
importantly, fell 4 games down to the Western
division leading P.W.O.P. in the process.
In a game somewhat short on offense, the P.W.O.P.
got a great game out of RB Steve Slaton, who
posted a game-high 11. Receiver Hines Ward added
8, and two other Oilmen chipped in 6’s.
Brian’s RB Matt Forte led his team with
9, receivers Reggie Wayne and T. Owens added
8 and 7, respectively, but LJ laid an egg (thanks
to some bad advice from an unnamed source, Brian
pulled Michael Turner in favor of Johnson, and
so lost out on another 9 points).
Pirkle’s Profiteer$ remain a game atop
the division, with a stellar 4-1 record. Brian’s
Raze can’t find the right combination,
and sinks lower in the West. Now at 1-4, they
will need to turn it around to a 5-3 finish to
qualify for the playoffs.
