| The Anderson
Brewmeisters got P.W.O.P.’d in Oiltown
Sunday, when their defense couldn’t finish
what their offense started. Paul’s
wicked Seatle Seahawks stripped 18 away from
the Brewskie offense, and added a defensive TD
for good measure, while the losing Brewmeisters’ Chargers
D was spending the afternoon getting pushed all
over the field, giving up 486 yards in a paltry
2-against performance, their second horrible
game in as many weeks.
Riding the arm of QB Tony Romo (11 points) and
the toe of Mason Crosby (12), the Profiteer$
got only 19 points from their other five offensive
starters, but with the play of the Seahawks D,
they really didn’t need a lot of offense. Week
#2 looked pretty much like week #1 for the Brewmeisters,
with 14 from Brian Westbrook to lead the team,
solid play from the receiving corps. (10 from
Chambers and 7 each from Burress and Holt), and
more subpar play from Peyton Manning (5) and “Lame
Toe”, LaDanian Tomlinson (2). Manning
finds himself uncharacteristically tied with
Trent Ewards and Brett Favre for 12th best among
quarterbacks, and giving the Andersons some worried
looks. At least Tomlinson has an acknowledged
injury to blame his poor performances on.
Both
teams left the field with 1-1 records, and both
find themselves in second place in their respective
divisions, with the Brewmeisters trailing the
Naughty Figs, and P.W.O.P. a game down to the
Abstract Machines.

| The Naughty
Figs brought out the whuppin’ sticks Sunday,
and laid a 64 – 28 beatdown on the Pimps. So
amazing was the Figs’ offense that receiver
Anquan Boldin’s 16 points was not even
the team high. That honor was left to quarterback
Jay Cutler, who posted an 18, his second consecutive
double-digit score. And the fireworks continued
with kicker Nick Folk (13), RB Clinton Portis
(11), and receiver Brandon Marshall (11) all
posting double digits for the Naughties. Pimps’ QB
Kurt Warner tried vainly to rally the home team
with a stellar 16 points, but running back Adrian
Peterson’s 9 and a pair of 6’s from
receivers Eddie Royal and Jason Whitten were
not enough to counter the firepower of the Naughty
Ones. The Pimps' Redskins D, with 15
takeaway points, managed to edge Brandon’s
Steelers (14 against), but it mattered little,
as the rain of Figs seemed like it would never
end.
The Naughties now find themselves on top
in the Eastern Division, with a perfect record
over the first two weeks. The Pimps, with
two losses to start the season, join the Stereco
as the only winless teams in the league.

The new look
Piana Raze lost their defense for week 2, as
a bit of bad weather caused the Ravens to fly
the coop and miss the team bus, forcing Brian
to play shorthanded against last year’s
regular season leading Thomas Bock Boys. The
result was a 46 – 28 Bock Boys win that
evened the records of both teams at 1-1 after
the first two weeks.
Led by 12 points each from RB Marion Barber
and receiver Calvin Johnson, the Bock Boys didn’t
seem to miss former standout wideout Plax Burress
this weekend. Opting to play run-and-shoot,
with 4 receivers and Barber, Thomas got good
production from Greg Jennings (8) and Donald
Driver (6), then used a 9-against performance
from his Patriots defense to douse the Raze. Brian
got the usual fine game from T.O., who’s
10 points led the Raze, and also got 8’s
from receiver Reggie Wayne and kicker Neil Rackers,
who out-scored once-Raze-now-Bock Boy kicker
Adam Vinatieri by 4. But the Raze only
got 3 total points from it’s two running
backs, which put the nails in the coffin. Michael
Turner may have tired himself out racking up
17 last week, as this week he was only able to
manage 2 points – and that was one more
than Larry Johnson posted, in about as dismal
a running attack as we have seen from the Raze
in quite awhile.
Both teams are now looking up
a game at the Abstract Machines after the first
two weeks of play, with the Bock Boys looking
suddenly solid, and the Raze somewhat disorganized
and looking for a leader at running back.

| The Colossal
Waste of Time nipped the Sims’ Stereco
at The Vortex to take it’s first win of
the season, 31 – 27. Overcoming
the second consecutive pitiful game by quarterback
Carson Palmer, the Jody’s were led this
week by kicker Stephen Gostkowski’s 13,
with at least some meaningful contribution from
receivers Anthony Gonzalez (7) and Santonio Holmes
(5), and running backs Frank Gore (6) and Steven
Jackson (5). Jody’s Bears D got in
on the scoring with a DTD to go along with 13
points against. But Palmer was a liability,
actually giving Sims a point, and forcing the
Twelfth Man, as it were, to come to the rescue. Sims
had played Jody even, with RB Darren McFadden
posting a team-high 9, wideout Larry Fitzgerald
adding 8, and Brandon Jacobs and Brett Favre
adding 5 each. But the Stereco lost the
defensive battle, as Sims’ Jaguars played
only average, with 10 takeaway points.
The C.W.O.T.
remain a game behind the division leading Naughty
Figs, at 1-1, while the winless Stereco share
the Eastern Division cellar with the Pimps.

| The Abstract
Machines used massive defense and Santana Moss’ best
game in years to best the visiting Irwin Hellions,
32 – 21 Sunday. Mike F’s Giants
D was indeed large, stripping 19 away from the
Hellions and adding a DTD. Although Chris’ Eagles
D also posted a touchdown, it’s 4 against
was a big drop from last weekend’s showing. Nor
did the Hellions get the monster game from quarterback
Donovan McNabb that they did in week 1, as McNabb
posted a more average 8, and was only the second
best Hellion on the field, with running back
Julius Jones hitting for a dime. The Machines’ Santana
was not only the best Moss this weekend, his
13 points were a team high, and second best of
any receiver in week 2. The Machines got
five each from RB Willie Parker, WR Dwayne Bowe,
and kicker Jeff Reed, and were able to overcome
tight end Jeramy Shockey giving the Hellions
a point.
The Machines have sprinted out the gate with
a 2-0 record, the only undefeated team in the
West. The Hellions, losers for the first
time this season, join all the other teams in
the West in a four-way tie for second place.
