Week 9 Previews

Sims Stereco at Naughty Figs
(2 - 5 - 1)   (3 - 5)
series history: Sims leads 10-5
last meeting: Week 3
FIGS 37, at Sims 22

The Sims Stereco look to crawl further back into playoff contention as they visit the Naughty Figs. Although hampered by a league-worst two wins, the Stereco have taken two of their last three and are fresh off a 42-17 dismantling of The Pimps. The Figs, meanwhile, are the first of three teams to come into Week 9 riding a three-game losing streak. It's their first three-game skid since the first month of the 2005 season, and it certainly isn't helping getting them back to the playoffs for the first time since '04. Sims is benefiting from the fact that Drew Brees and Joseph Addai are finally remembering how to score. The Figs are banged up like no other team, but they'll be welcoming back Matt Hasselbeck from his bye. They've already beaten Sims once this season, and a series sweep would get them right back into the playoff hunt.

victims of the bye week:
Sims – K Gould
Figs –  REC Bruce

The Pimps at Abstract Machines
(3 - 4 - 1)   (5 - 3)
series history: Pimps lead 8-5-1
last meeting: Week 7, 2006
Machines 21, vs PIMPS 22

The interdivisional matchup of Week 9 pits a pair of streaking teams, albeit in different directions. The Abstract Machines are the hottest team in the league right now, having won four straight. Their guests this week – The Pimps – have lost three straight following a tie, making them arguably the coldest team. Jon Kitna, Shaun Alexander, and even Adrian Peterson have slowed following their hot starts for The Pimps, and the Bears defense has almost become a liability. The Machines, meanwhile, have the unstoppable Tom Brady, who seems to only be getting better as the season wears on. Willie Parker and a tenacious defense hasn't hurt either. The Pimps won last season's meeting by a single point on a neutral field, but lost the previous three. Can they turn it around, or will the AM buzz saw cast them aside?

victims of the bye week:
Pimps – DEF Chicago
Machines – REC Berrian, REC Ginn, REC Shockey

P.W.O.P. at Piana Raze
(3 - 5)   (4 - 4)
series history: Piana leads 13-9
last meeting: Week 2
Piana 27, at P.W.O.P. 40

Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ and the Piana Raze meet up an En Fuego Field in hopes of rebounding from their respective divisional losses a week ago. P.W.O.P. was held off by Thomas, snapping their momentum following a big Neutral Site Week victory over Anderson, while the Raze were put down by the Machines. Both clubs are unlikely to catch Thomas in the Western race, so the Profiteer$ and Raze need to focus on getting the six wins necessary for them to make a return trip to the playoffs. While Pirk will welcome back Tony Romo from his bye week, the Raze should be ecstatic to have Larry Johnson and Terrell Owens make their returns as well. Since a season-opening victory over the Machines, Piana has dropped four straight divisional contests, including a Week 2 decision in Oil Town, USA.

victims of the bye week:
P.W.O.P. – REC Bennett
Piana – DEF N.Y. Giants

Thomas' Bock Boys at Irwin Hellions
(7 - 1)   (3 - 5)
series history: Irwin leads 11-5
last meeting: Week 4
Irwin 27, at THOMAS 36

The front office of Thomas' Bock Boys have started taking playoff ticket orders from its fans. The Boys are already playoff eligible and have the Western Division by its throat. Yet this week, they go to their own personal House of Horrors – Purgatory Field, where they're a lifetime 0-8 – for a return bout against the Irwin Hellions. Irwin, who completes the league's trifecta of teams sporting a three-game losing streak, is in desperate need of some offense if they're to turn their season around. Braylon Edwards has been a surprising one-man show while the Johnson twins (Chad and Andre) try to find their magic from years past. The Boys' Randy Moss has certainly done that, and the superstar receiver is looking to deliver Thomas its first-ever road win over the Hellions.

victims of the bye week:
Thomas – REC Burress, K Wilkins
Irwin – QB Manning, RB Benson

Game of the Week
Anderson Brewmeisters at Jody's C.W.O.T.
(4 - 4)   (5 - 3)
series history: Anderson leads 15-8
last meeting: Week 2
JODY 62, at Anderson 50

Just when you think the Anderson-Jody rivalry might be waning, the Colossal Waste of Time avenge their 2006 Championship Week beating with an inspired 62-50 road win over the Brewmeisters in Week 2. Two months later, it's the C.W.O.T. all alone in first place in the East at 5-3 and the Brew Krew a game back at 4-4. A series sweep for Jody could put the defending division champion Brewmeisters in an insurmountable hole (being down two full games and a tiebreaker).

Anderson's 4-4 mark isn't because they've played poorly. The opposition has risen to the occasion, saving their best for the team that went 12-3 last season. Their receiving corps has noticeably dropped off, but Peyton Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Westbrook, and a stout Chargers defense has made up whatever slack there was.

The C.W.O.T. are hurting, having already lost Ronnie Brown for the season and Steven Jackson and Laurence Maroney for several weeks already. As such, Jody's getting it done through the air, with team MVP T.J. Houshmandzadeh leading the way. Jody's winning streak is up to 3, and their 4-1 divisional mark is tops in the East. Can they keep a good thing going, or will LT and company crash their party?

victims of the bye week:
Anderson – RB Jacobs, REC Holt
Jody – RB Jackson, K Tynes
