| The Anderson
Brewmeisters dropped their third straight this
week, this time to the division leading Pimps. Largely
on the strength of stellar play of their Bears
Defense, the visiting Pimps jumped out to a commanding
50 point lead almost before the home team’s
offense took the field. And when Brewsky
running back Brian Westbrook landed on the inactive
list, the home team’s fate was sealed. Offensively,
the victors had no superstars, but enough good
performances to get the job done. QB John
Kitna and kicker Kris Brown managed 9 apiece,
tight end Jason Witten added 7, and RB Adrian
Peterson managed 6, to lead the winners. For
the losers, Peyton Manning (16 pts) and LaDanian
Tomlinson (11) finally performed to expectations;
however, the rest of the team took the week off
to join Westbrook, as no other starter managed
more than Tory Holt’s 3 points. And
when the San Diego Defense, in another lackluster
performance, managed to take only 8 points away
from the visitors, it spelled another “L” for
last season’s Eastern Division Champs. The
loss leaves the Brewskies at 1-3 for the season,
now 2 games behind the division leading 3-1 Pimps.

| Pirkle’s
Wicked Oil Profiteers evened their record with
a 19 - 3 win against the hapless
Abstract Machines, who set a new season mark
for total scoring futility. The Little
Sisters of the Poor would have had no trouble
beating the Machines this week, as nobody showed
up to support Tom Brady, whose stellar, 13 point,
three touchdown performance was about all there
was to cheer about for the hometown faithful. Pirk’s
Profiteer offense was even worse, with kicker
Mason Crosby’s 11 points accounting for
exactly half their total. QB Phil Rivers,
having understudied Drew Brees for two years,
threw two pics and coughed up a fumble for a
Brees-like -2. The game turned on the outstanding
play of Pirk’s Seattle defense, which tallied
6 sacks, two pics, and a DFR in a 26 points-against
performance, while Mike’s Ravens D, usually
one of the league’s best, turned in a dismal
3 point total. The win leaves the P.W.O.P.
at 2-2, two games back of Dad in the West, while
the Machines, now at 1-3, own the keys to the
cellar.

The Thomas Bock
Boys continued their blazing start to the ’07
season, with a 36 – 27 win over the Irwin
Hellions in the unofficial game of the week. Thomas
got a major team effort this week, with every
starter contributing at least 4 points. The
Boys took slim one point lead into the Monday
night, Patriots-Cincy matchup, where Thomas’ Randy
Moss outclassed Irwin’s Chad Johnson 11 – 3
to cement the final score. Moss led all
players, although kicker Nate Kading matched
his 11 for the losers. The Cowboys defense
kept Thomas in the game with a 14 points-against
score, while the Hellions’ Eagles D managed
only a 9. What may have been the biggest
disappointment for the losers, however, was the
lackluster play of quarterback Donovan McNabb,
whose single point set a new low for the season. Thomas’ Boys,
now undefeated through the first four games,
maintain their one-game lead over the Raze in
the Western Division, while Irwin falls two games
off the pace and into a tie for third at 2-2.

| The Sims Stereco
remain 0-for-the-season after an excruciatingly
close loss to the Colossal Waste of Time this
week. Up by eight heading into the final
matchup of the weekend, Sims had not enough bullets
left to counter the Palmer-Horsemeudo duo of
the Jodys. Palmer had his poorest outing
of the season, with just four points; but, his
lone touchdown pass went to Housemeringey, who
finished with 8 for the victors. When the
Stereco’s lone Monday night receiver, Wes
Welker, managed but 2 points, it tallied up to
another turd for Sims. The game had started out
promisingly enough, with quarterback Brett Favre
making the most of his second start, posting
11 points, and lone back Joe Addai matching that. Kicker
Robbie Gould put up a 9, and the Packers D tallied
a 12-against for the Stereco. However,
the C.W.O.T.’s Ronnie Brown rang up a 14,
to lead all position players, and in a brilliant
piece of defensive strategy, Jody chose this
game to give his Tampa Bay D its first start
of the season. The Bucs responded with
a 14 points-against performance that kept the
visiting C.W.O.T. in the game until the Cincy
duo could put them over the top on Monday night. The
win evens up clock-watchers record at 2-2, and
keeps them only a game behind the Pimps in the
Eastern Division. The lowly Stereco remain
the only winless team in the league, and are
now three games off pace, needing to go 6-3 over
the remainder of the season to qualify for the
playoffs.

| The Piana Raze
have the Enfuego Field faithful to thank for
their latest win, a one-pointer over the visiting
Naughty Figs. In a game in which both offensive
and defensive stars belonged to the Figs, the
home field advantage became the decider. Adam
Vinatieri and Matt Schaub had 8 points apiece
for the winners, but Brandon’s Matt Hasselbeck
led all position players with a 10. And
Brandon’s Steelers D outplayed Brian’s
Colts D, 10 – 7. This was a disappointing
game for both teams, with the Raze being lucky
to escape with a win in such a low scoring contest. However,
a win it was, and it allows Brian to move to
3-1, and remain a single game back of the Bock
Boys in the Western Division. The Naughty
Figs lost their share of first in the East, and
at 2-2 drop into a tie with the Jody’s,
a game off the Pimps.
