Week 4 kicks
off from Saint Arnold Stadium, where both the
Anderson Brewmeisters and The Pimps return to
divisional play having suffered Week 3 interdivisional
losses. The Pimps suffered their first loss of
the season in Bockville, while Anderson was outgunned
on the road by the previously-winless Abstract
Machines.
Despite averaging 50 points over the
first three weeks, the defending division champion
Brewmeisters find themselves with a surprising
record of 1-2. The
Pimps, by contrast, find themselves tied for
first atop the Eastern Division after a 2-1 start.
With an offensive core of Jon Kitna, Shaun Alexander,
and Adrian Peterson, The Pimps may have enough
to finally keep up with Anderson, who
have won the last five in the series. Of course,
some defense would also be nice, but The Pimps'
Bears unit and Anderson's Chargers squad combined
for only 6 points of production last week.

PIANA 36, at Figs 29 |

| The Piana Raze
return home following a successful trip to The
Vortex to host the upstart Naughty Figs, who
are coming off a solid road win over the Stereco.
This game marks the first time Raze receiver
Roy Williams will suit up against his former
club. Williams – who has averaged
8 ppg through the first three weeks – was traded
to Piana before Week 9 of last season. The Figs
were given Matt Leinart in return, but he remains
on the sideline with a clipboard in hand. If
the Figs can thwart the efforts of their ex-teammate
and earn a win at En Fuego Field, they will be
3-1 to start the season for the first time since
2004. The Raze, however, have won the last three
meetings with the Figs to take the overall series
lead 4-3.

| The Abstract
Machines host Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ in
the first of two Western Division showdowns.
P.W.O.P. were crushed by Irwin last week at the
Hellhole to drop to 1-2, whereas the Machines
earned their first victory of the season by trumping
the offensive fireworks of the Brewmeisters.
Pirk will be somewhat limited in its ground
game as Rudi Johnson has been ruled out due to
injury and Reggie Bush has to sit this one out
on bye, putting all the more pressure on Tony
Romo, who already has 44 points on the young
season. The only QB who has matched Romo's gaudy
numbers is the Machines' Tom Brady, who will
have his full compliment of offensive targets
to work with.

| There's no slowing
the fervor in Bockville, where their 3-0 Bock
Boys have already matched their win total from
a year ago. The 2-1 Irwin Hellions pay a visit
this week to Bockyard Stadium, and – with a lifetime
11-4 record against Thomas – they may be bringing
the wet blanket. After an opening week loss,
the Hellions have won two straight, and Donovan
McNabb seems to have found his mojo once again.
Yet this year's Bock Boys are a dangerous lot.
Both Randy Moss and Plaxico Burress are averaging
better than 9 points a game, and their Patriots
defense is producing twice that. A win over the
Hellions would certainly cement the Bock Boys
as early Western Division favorites.

| Record-wise,
there may be more interesting games on the docket,
but it might be difficult to find one with more
on the line than the Sims Stereco hosting Jody's
Colossal Waste of Time. Two teams that each reached
Championship Week a year ago are off to slow
starts, combining for a 1-5 record after just
three weeks.
Jody has split two games with the Super Bowl
participants from a year ago and lost in the
season-opener to the Figs, leaving the Pewter
& Black below .500. The whole offense regressed
during last week's loss to Piana, and now Steven
Jackson has been lost to injury. Carson Palmer
and the receivers need to find their magic from
Week 2 in order to get the team back to 2-2.
Sims is the only winless club left in the league,
thanks largely to Drew Brees, who – with a shot
to lead them to victory last Monday Night – imploded
once again for minus-five points against the
Figs. With Brees out mercifully on bye, Brett
Favre will be given the reigns in
hopes of getting the Stereco into the win column.
An 0-4 start would force Sims to go 6-3 the rest
of the way to qualify for the playoffs, which
could be too much to ask.
