Pimps Corral Figs

The Pimps score a big victory in a battle of Eastern unbeatens, and Jody once again outguns the Brewmeisters on the road. All this and more in...

The Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

The Pimps at Naughty Figs
36   30

The Pimps outlasted the Naughty Figs, 36-30, in a surprising battle of early-season unbeatens. Despite having two receivers score just a single point apiece, The Pimps' Joey Galloway saved the collective receiving corps with a valiant 13-point outing. This game belonged largely to special teams and defense, where The Pimps' combination of Kris Brown and the Bears bested the Figs' combined efforts of David Akers and the Steelers, 28-24. The win keeps The Pimps atop the league with a 2-0 record, their best two-week start since 2004.

Jody's C.W.O.T. at Anderson Brewmeisters
62   50

For the second time in the past six games, Jody C.W.O.T. has bested the Anderson Brewmeisters at their own game and on their own turf. Granted, sandwiched in between last year's 50-46 Week 12 upset and this week's 62-50 victory is a horrendous 56-14 playoff beatdown, but the C.W.O.T. have now taken two of the past three from the defending Eastern Division champs. Carson Palmer had a monster game with a season-high 23 points for the C.W.O.T., while three other Timers had 9 or more points. Brewmeister receiver Steve Smith had a huge game on his own with 17 points, but none of his teammates could some close to matching his production. The victory squares both Jody and Anderson up with a record of 1-1.

Piana Raze at P.W.O.P.
27   40

Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ used a big defensive performance to hand the PIana Raze their first loss since Week 10 of last year. P.W.O.P.'s Bronco "D" stripped 19 points away from the defending champs, while Tony Romo (12 points), Rudi Johnson (9), and Shayne Graham (9) provided the bulk of the offense for the home team. Piana got 8 points from three different players, but failed to score a rushing touchdown for the second week in a row. The Raze drop to 1-1 with the loss, while Pirk moves up to 1-1 while notching their first victory of the season.

Thomas' Bock Boys at Abstract Machines
43   21

Randy Moss made the most of his 2007 debut, scoring 11 points and leading the Bock Boy offense in a 43-21 rout of the Abstract Machines. David Garrard (9 points), Marion Barber (10), and Jeff Wilkins (10) all had big days as well for Thomas, but the game ball goes to the Boys' Patriots defense, which ravaged the Machines for 22 points. The Mechanical Ones fought back with 22 combined points from Tom Brady and Willie Parker, but the five other offensive starters averaged just over 3 points apiece. Thomas rises to 2-0 behind its second straight division win (both on the road, nonetheless), while the Machines fall to 0-2 and into the Western cellar.

Sims Stereco at Irwin Hellions
42   49

The Sims Stereco rebounded in a big way from being shutout in Week 1 by scoring 42 points against the Irwin Hellions in Week 2. Unfortunately, however, Sims also allowed 49 points for the second straight week and ultimately suffered its first loss to the Hellions since 2003. Former Hellion Brett Favre got the start over the struggling Drew Brees for the Stereco, and he did not disappoint, tearing up his former team for a team-high 13 points. While Irwin managed only 7 combined points from its kicker and defense, Edgerrin James (10 points), Andre Johnson (12), and Chad Johnson (16) each reached double-digits to help lift the Hellions to their first win of 2007. The loss drops Sims (0-2) into the Eastern Division basement.
