Week 2 Previews

Jody's C.W.O.T. at Anderson Brewmeisters
(0 - 1)   (1 - 0)
series history: Anderson leads 15-7
last meeting: Championship Week, 2006
Jody 14, at ANDERSON 56

The Anderson Brewmeisters look to continue their hot start as they host Jody's Colossal Waste of Time in a rematch of last season's Eastern Championship Game. This will mark Jody's third trip to Saint Arnold Stadium in the past six games, dating back to last season. Jody stunned the Brew Krew 50-46 in Week 12 of last season before being routed 56-14 three weeks later.

The C.W.O.T. suffered their first loss to the Naughty Figs since 2004 last week, and another defeat here would put them two games and a tiebreaker behind the Brewmeisters after only two weeks. Anderson, who flexed its muscle in last week's 49-0 pasting of Sims, only lost two regular season games all of last season. This matchup will feature two of the most dangerous backs in league, although Jody's Steven Jackson (minus-1 point) had a much rougher opening week than Anderson's LaDainian Tomlinson (10 points).

Sims Stereco at Irwin Hellions
(0 - 1)   (0 - 1)
series history: Sims leads 8-4
last meeting: Week 9, 2006
Irwin 20, at SIMS 36

The lone interdivisional contest of Week 2 once again features the Irwin Hellions, who last week fell to The Pimps, 22-18. This week, the Hellions will be hosting the shell-shocked Sims Stereco in Irwin's home opener at Purgatory Field. Sims is coming off a 49-0 thrashing at the hands of the Brewmeisters and is eager to prove that last week – and not last season – was the fluke.

Drew Brees needs to find some of his '06 magic and find it soon. The Stereco QB has posted two straight negative scores, and the team's offense has followed his lead. Irwin, meanwhile, needs contributions from everyone in the lineup; Deion Branch's goose egg last week possibly cost the team a victory. History sides with the Stereco for this one, as they have won the last three meetings with their Hellhole hosts.

Piana Raze at P.W.O.P.
(1 - 0)   (0 - 1)
series history: Piana leads 13-8
last meeting: Week 11, 2006
P.W.O.P. 26, at PIANA 30

The Piana Raze head to Oil Town in hopes of building off their Week 1 victory as they square off with Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$. P.W.O.P. took one on the chin last week, being sliced apart by an inspired Bock Boy receiving corps. Tony Romo, however, led the league with a monster 21-point effort in the loss, yet the rest of the Profiteer offense came out flat. Piana also suffered from lack of production last week, and are hoping Larry Johnson and Maurice Jones-Drew can find more room to run following a pedestrian effort against the Machines. These two clubs played their series close last season, with Pirk winning a 3-point game on its home turf and Piana claiming a 4-point victory at En Fuego Field.

Thomas' Bock Boys at Abstract Machines
(1 - 0)   (0 - 1)
series history: Thomas leads 10-5
last meeting: Week 13, 2006
Thomas 17, at MACHINES 18

Thomas' Bock Boys are riding high following an opening week 46-30 victory over P.W.O.P., while the Machines are eager to get back on the field having come up short last week against the Raze. Aside from Jamal Lewis, the Boys were phenomenal last week, with each starter scoring at least 7 points. The Machines, by contrast, had five starters post 3 points or less, souring a 15-point performance from Tom Brady. Last time these two met, the Machines eeked out an 18-17 victory in the final regular season game to qualify for the playoffs. The Mechanical Ones will need another win here to avoid their second 0-2 start over the past three seasons.

Game of the Week
The Pimps at Naughty Figs
(1 - 0)   (1 - 0)
series history: Figs lead 10-4
last meeting: Week 9, 2006
FIGS 63, at Pimps 38

The Game of the Week features the only Week 2 matchup of Week 1 victors, pitting the 1-0 Naughty Figs against the 1-0 Pimps. These two clubs finished at the bottom of the Eastern Division and out of the playoffs a year ago, and now one will likely start the season 2-0.

The Figs pulled off a convincing 32-14 upset of Jody's C.W.O.T. last week, thanks largely to a 31-point effort from their Steeler defense. The Pimps also found the win column with a strong defensive effort, as their Bears unit stripped 14 points away from the visiting Hellions in a 22-18 victory. This isn't to say the respective offenses aren't dangerous, of course; the FIgs had three offensive players score at least 7 points while The PImps had 4.

The FIgs have dominated this series. Despite finishing last season with only four regular season wins, they still managed to sweep their two games with The Pimps by a combined score of 121-51.
