| Perhaps the
most eye-popping numbers of Kickoff Weekend
2007's scoreboard comes to us from the Porcelain
Bowl, where the visiting Anderson Brewmeisters
crushed the hometown Sims Stereco 49-0. Peyton
Manning and the rest of the Brew Krew took out
the frustration of last season's Super Bowl
loss by putting Sims in the record books; the
2007 Stereco are the first team to
suffer an opening week home shutout in league
history.
Manning led the Brewmeister offense with 15
points, and LaDainian Tomlinson and Steve Smith
contributed an additional 10 and 9 points, respectively.
Anderson's Chargers defense got off to a hot
start as well, ripping 22 points away from the
anemic Stereco offense. Sims' Joseph Addai ran
for 10 points, but the rest of the team could
only muster 14 more, and Drew Brees suffered
his second consecutive minus-2 point effort (dating
back to last season).
