Week 4 kicks
off with The 1-2 Pimps hosting the possibly resurgent
2-1 Sims Stereco. Indeed, Sims is off to its
first 2-1 start since 1999 following last week's
27-15 home victory over the Profiteer$. The Pimps,
by contrast, have dropped two straight following
a season-opening win and are looking to right
the ship.
The Stereco aren't exactly throwing the hammer
down on offense yet, but kicker Robbie
Gould (11 points in Week 2, 14 in Week 3) has
certainly developed into a special teams force.
Sims' Jaguars defense, traded from The Pimps
in the offseason, has also been much better than
the Stereco's previously inept defensive units.
The Pimps found the Jags to be expendable given
the rise of their formidable Bears defense. Like
the Stereco, the offense is the weak link for
The Pimps. Making matters worse, Shaun Alexander
– who only has 14 points on the season – is out
this week with a broken foot.

ANDERSON 37, at Figs 25 |

| The Naughty
Figs head back out for their third road game
in four weeks as they visit the undefeated Anderson
Brewmeisters at Saint Arnold Stadium. After a
dormant first two weeks, the Figs came alive
in Bockville, hammering Thomas' Bock Boys for
92 overall points in earning their first win
of the season. Anderson, meanwhile, is 3-0 and
off to its best start ever. Amazingly, this is
the first time since 1998 that the Brewskies
have had a winning record after the season's
first three weeks.
The FIgs had six starters post 9 points or higher
in last week's 71-9 victory. Three players –
Matt Hasselbeck, Clinton Portis, and Javon Walker
– each reached double-digits for the first time
on the season, helping to pace the rout. Walker
will be sitting this one out on bye, however,
as will the Figs' Steelers defense, who stripped
24 points from Thomas last week. The Brewmeisters
posted a very impressive 68 overall in last week's
win over Irwin, even without the help of LaDainian
Tomlinson. Brian Westbrook was Superman in L.T.'s
absence, slicing up the Hellions for 17 points.
The Brewmeisters have won six of the last seven
meetings in the series, so the Figs just may
need another career day to pull the road upset.

| The Piana Raze
and Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ are both looking
to get well following Week 3 losses. The Raze
were a home-field advantage away from being shut
out by the Machines, while Pirk fell to the feisty
Stereco on the road. Both clubs sit with only
one mark in the win column, meaning the loser
of this one would have to turn it around and
go 5-4 or better the rest of the way to qualify
for the postseason.
Piana was without three of their heavy hitters
last week, as Larry Johnson and Terrell Owens
sat out on bye and placekicker Adam Vinatieri
missed action due to an injury. Things won't
be particularly better this week when Tiki Barber
takes his turn on the pine and Vinatieri's, Reggie
Wayne's, and T.O.'s playing status all remain
up in the air. From the other sideline, Pirk
will be without four players due to the bye week.
The remaining offensive starters will need to
improve from last week, when no one scored above
5 points. P.W.O.P.'s Seahawks defense, however,
has been a model of consistency, scoring 11,
18, and 14 points to date.

| First meets
last in the Western Division as the 2-1 Abstract
Machines visit Thomas' 0-3 Bock Boys. Last week's
32-2 rout of the Piana Raze pushed the Machines
back into first place, a half-game ahead of the
Raze and Hellions. Thomas was absolutely blind
sided in their 2006 home opener, getting scorched
by a career day from the visiting Naughty Figs.
The Machines had four offensive starters score
8 or more points last week, but the leader of
that pack – Fast Willie Parker with 14 – will
be sitting this one out with his bye. Thankfully
for the Mechanical Ones, their Ravens defense
will not; that unit is averaging a staggering
28 points per game. This doesn't bode well for
the Bock Boys, who are having enough problems
scoring points of their own. Twice in the season's
first three weeks, Thomas has posted a raw score
of 31 or less. The silver lining is that they
were both interdivisional games, and the Boys
certainly bucked up in their 26-20 loss to P.W.O.P.
in Week 2 (scoring 56). Can they find similar
magic with a divisional foe coming to town?

| The first interdivisional
Game of the Week comes to us from The Vortex,
where Jody's Colossal Waste of Time hosts the
Irwin Hellions in a battle between the two most
winningest teams in FLF history. Irwin currently
leads all comers with 75 career wins, but Jody's
hot on their heels with 73. They have 9 division
titles and 8 Super Bowl appearances between them.
The two clubs also had their respective 2005
seasons end with playoff losses to the Abstract
Machines, so there's plenty to discuss in between
plays.
The Hellions are coming off their first loss
of the season, a 41-24 loss to Anderson at Purgatory
Field. Jody, meanwhile, has posted consecutive
road victories over the Figs and Pimps to improve
to 2-1. One of the biggest surprises of the
season may be the terrific play of Hellion QB
Donovan McNabb, who has averaged over 13 points
per game in three starts. Edgerrin James is beginning
to shake off some early-season rust, but the
injury to Domanick Davis has left a hole in the
backfield. Jody also boasts a stellar quarterback
in Carson Palmer and has a much deeper roster
to pull from. Kicking should be fun to watch
in this one; John Kasay is coming off a
career 18-point week for Jody, while Nate Kaeding
has combined for 26 points for Irwin in just
two starts.
