Flexing Some Muscle

Anderson, Irwin, and Pirk all post impressive wins over teams with great performances of their own, while Piana and Jody get Win No. 1. All this and more in..

The Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

The Pimps at Anderson Brewmeisters
26   37

The Anderson Brewmeisters survived a stout 24-point showing from the opposing Bears defense to topple the visiting Pimps, 37-26, at Saint Arnold Stadium. Peyton Manning and LaDainian Tomlinson were up to their old tricks, lighting up the scoreboard for 17 and 13 points, respectively. The Pimps had four starters with 7 points or more, but it still wasn't enough to counter the 59-point attack of the Brewskie offense. At 2-0, Anderson is off to its best start in franchise history.

Irwin Hellions at Abstract Machines
19   17

The Irwin Hellions upset the defending Super Bowl Champions in amazing fashion, surviving a 38-point onslaught from the Machines' Ravens defense to claim a narrow 19-17 win. Donovan McNabb (15 points) had his second straight double-digit outing for Irwin, and kicker Nate Kaeding bombed the Abstracts for 16 more. Those 31 points alone were more than the entire Machine offense could muster. The Champs had a shot heading into Monday Night, trailing by only 3 points. Willie Parker was stuffed for a single point, however, giving Irwin its first win in four games. The loss is the Machines' first since

Thomas' Bock Boys at P.W.O.P.
20   26

Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ bounced back from a Week 1 beat down to clip an inspired Thomas' Bock Boys squad, 26-20, in Oil Town. Philip Rivers and Reggie Bush made their P.W.O.P. debuts, combining for 12 points, but it was Rudi Johnson carrying the day, ripping the Boys for 13 points. Both defenses had stellar games, neutralizing each other with 18 points-against. While Thomas did have big players on offense (three with 7 points or more), the Boys also had a 2-pointer and goose egg, giving the victory to the Profiteer$. The loss is Thomas' eighth straight and has them facing their first 0-2 start since 2003 (the same year they won Super Bowl VII).

Sims Stereco at Piana Raze
23   27

The Piana Raze held off the Sims Stereco for a 27-23 interdivisional victory. Terrell Owens became a non-factor, scoring only a single point before leaving with a broken finger, and the Stereco's Julius Jones (3 points) didn't fare much better against his former team. The kickers provided most of the offensive fireworks; both Adam Vinatieri (13 points) and Robbie Gould (11) led their respective teams in offensive scoring. Sims almost made a heroic defensive comeback Monday Night, but their Jaguars unit (16 points) fell short. The win is the first of the season for Piana, who sits tied with Irwin atop the West at 1-0-1.

Jody's C.W.O.T. at Naughty Figs
32   9

Jody's Colossal Waste of Time made quick work of the Naughty Figs, besting their hosts 32-9 in the only game of the week that was never really close. Carson Palmer led the attack for Jody with 9 points, and Ronnie Brown and Steven Jackson combined for 13 more. The Figs, by contrast, were miserable on all sides of the ball, having only one starter score even 5 points. At 0-2 (both divisional losses), the Figgies find themselves alone at the bottom in the East.
