1 |
 |
Irwin
Hellions (9-3-1) |
| Western
Division winner, most wins in the league, Edgerrin
James, and Buccaneers D. Toss out week 10’s
embarrassment (24 total points), and they finished
with 2 wins and a tie. Which version of Eli Manning
shows up will go a long way to determining the Hellions
postseason fate. |
|
2 |
 |
Jody's C.W.O.T.
(8-5) |
| This
team had the goods most consistently over the last
four or five weeks, with Week 11’s 54 their
only total under 62 during that span, and a 3-1
record to close out the regular season. Carson Palmer,
Panthers Defense, and just enough contributions
from mostly mediocre support got the job done when
it counted. (Editor's Note: Jody's five losses came
against the other five playoff teams) |
|
3 |
 |
Piana
Raze (8-4-1) |
| Undefeated
over the final four weeks of the regular season
(3-0-1), thanks to great running back tandem and
timely defense. No point total less than 54 in the
last four games. |
|
4 |
 |
Anderson
Brewmeisters (8-5) |
| Defending
Eastern Division champs were rendered virtually
defenseless over the final four weeks, as the Lions
decided to lie down with the lambs. Went 2-2 over
the final four, with both their season-low point
totals coming in that span. This does not bode well
for the playoffs. Still, with all the weapons this
team possesses, they could do some damage. |
|
5 |
 |
P.W.O.P.
(4-8-1) |
| Even
though they’ll be hosting the Draft Bowl this
weekend, this team actually played very well over
the last few weeks, going 2-2 and posting at least
50 points in every game. Finished by sticking it
to Dad’s Bock Boys with an 88 total in the
regular season finale as the Seahawks D tripled
their season average. |
|
6 |
 |
The Pimps
(5-8) |
| Another
team which closed out the season 2-2, they were
certainly the unluckiest team in the league. Five
times this year they had the misfortune of playing
the week’s eventual high-scorer. However,
they also frequently had little to complement the
trio of Shaun Alexander, Joey Galloway, and Defense,
so the Pimps will be watching the playoffs from
the outside. |

Abstract
Machines (6-6-1) |
| Finished
2-2 over the final month of regular season, and
made the playoffs with a final game win over the
Brewmeisters. They only scored more than 49 total
points once in that period, however, and in fact,
it was that inconsistency from season’s start
which doomed them to mediocrity. The Brewmeisters
will, however, get another shot at them in Wild
Card week, this time with home field advantage. |

Sims Stereco
(4-8) |
| A two-game
winning streak over playoff-bound teams was the
season highlight. But then they reverted to form,
and closed with two weak showings - both losses.
Good quarterbacking, and decent receivers (make
that ONE decent receiver after T.O. wore out his
welcome in Philly), and not much else puts Chris
in the Draft Bowl. |
|
9 |
 |
Naughty
Figs (5-8) |
| They
went just 1-3 over the final four weeks, missing
the last playoff birth when they lost and the Machines
won on the last day of regular season. The receivers
and kicking positions seldom contributed much, which
unfairly burdened the defense, QB, and running backs.
The team can take some pride in landing this year’s
Most Improved Player in LaMont Jordan, who, after
four years as an understudy, became Oakland’s
featured back and racked up 8.3 points per game
for the Figs, fourth best in the league for running
backs. |
|

 |
Thomas'
Bock Boys (6-7) |
| After
a 6-2 start, The Boys made a hard 180, and finished
the regular season on a five game losing streak
(due in no small part to the loss of his top QB
and running back). The final game was easily their
worst, as they totaled just 26 points – and
lost to The Kid. This is just sad. Fortunately,
it will be over soon. |
