| The Irwin Hellions
have been crowned Western Division Champions for
a record fifth time following a 30-30 tie with
the visiting Piana Raze. After a back-and-forth
battle all game long, Hellion kicker Nate Kaeding
booted 10 huge points Sunday Night to earn the
division-clinching draw.
Eli Manning had his worst game from behind center
for Irwin, actually costing his team a point,
but halfbacks Domanick Davis and Edgerrin James
scored 9 apiece to keep the Hellions in it. Piana's
backfield duo of Tiki Barber and Larry Johnson
combined for 19, and quarterback Trent Green continued
his hot streak with 8 points of his own. Despite
having a clear defensive advantage (17-11), Irwin
found itself down 10 with only Kaeding to play
and the Western Division title and subsequent
bye week hanging in the balance.
Yet the young kicker came up big, going two-for-two
on field goals and connecting on four PATs to
score just enough to avoid the loss and crown
them champs. The tie, Irwin's first ever, preserves
their No. 1 overall seeding for the playoffs.
Although they fell a point shy of the division
crown, the tie also helps Piana stay as the top-seeded
wild card at No. 3.

| The Abstract
Machines – playing without the league's
highest scoring kicker due to a injury suffered
in practice – stunned the visiting Anderson
Brewmeisters 28-24 to earn the sixth and final
playoff spot. Game ball goes to the Ravens defense,
which battered the Eastern Division-leading Brewmeisters
to the tune of 20 points.
Anderson's own Lions defense failed them once
again, scoring only 4 points, leaving the game
in the hands of one of the most potent offenses
in the league. Peyton Manning certainly did his
part, ripping the defense for 11 points, but halfbacks
LaDainian Tomlinson and Thomas Jones were each
held to 5 points. Additionally, Anderson's three
receivers combined for only 13 points, while the
Machines' Anquan Boldin scored 11 on his own.
Marvin Harrison and Tom Brady each scored an efficient
6 to help deliver the win to the home team.
At 6-6-1, the Machines will be returning to the
playoffs for the third straight season. The Brewmeisters
had already clinched their berth, but the loss
opens the door to Jody for stealing away the division
title and all-important bye.

Seixing the oppportunity
left by Anderson's loss to the Machines, Jody's
Colossal Waste of Time made quick work of the
Naughty Figs, doubling up their opponent 34-17
to win the Eastern Division title away from the
Brew Krew. Jody had four players in double digits,
led by the Panther defense with 18. Carson Palmer
led the offensive assault with 14 points, and
Mike Anderson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh each contibuted
11 more.
The Figs battled back, however, as the Colts defense stung Jody for 16 points,
and Clinton Portis rumbled for another 13 on the
ground. Yet once they saw the Machine victory
had closed the door on their playoff dreams, they
quit on the field as five other starters scored
3 points or less. The win gives Jody an excellent
7-1 divisional record and the Eastern Division
crown – the fourth for the franchise. The
Figs finish 2005 at 5-8, too good for the Draft
Bowl but not good enough for the playoffs.

| The late-season
skid of Thomas' Bock Boys hit a new low in Oil
Town, where the Boys were completely destroyed
by the Draft Bowl-bound P.W.O.P. 48-0. Drew Blesoe
actually cost his team two points, and Marion
Barber failed to score, helping Thomas post a
measly 17 offensive points. Pirk's Seattle defense
scored 9 offensive points by themselves
and managed to strip away all of Thomas' points
from the scoreboard with a record-setting 40-point
Monday Night performance. On offense, Chris Chambers
(13), Hines Ward (11), and Rudi Johnson (11) all
scored in the double-digits t help pace the rout.
The Profiteer victory gives them a 4-8-1 record
on the season, which is the same mark they hit
last year. And just as they did a year ago, the
Profiteer$ will take that record on the road for
a shot at the first overall draft pick in next
week's Draft Bowl. Thomas, meanwhile, has now
dropped five straight to end the season. Having
started the season 6-2, however, they will still
amke their sixth playoff appearance in six career
seasons.

Shaun Alexander carried the visiting Pimps to
a hard-fought 13-10 season-ending victory over
the fiesty Sims Stereco. Playing mostly for pride,
the Stereco Cardinal defense finally stepped up,
hammering the Pimps for 22 points. Unfortunatley,
the entire offense couldn't match that production,
as only one player (Larry Fitzgerald) scored more
than 3 points. The Pimps fared better on the offensive
side, with Joey Galloway and Jeff Reed each scoring
7 points. The Feathered Ones went into Monday
Night down five, however, but Alexander found
the endoze twice in providing the winning margin.
The Pimps finish 5-8 on the season, good enough
for third place in the Eastern Division but not
good enough for the playoffs. Sims, meanwhile,
drops to a league-worst mark of 4-9, and will
host the Profiteer$ in next week's Draft Bowl.
