| The Piana Raze
sent the Profiteer$' playoff hopes packing with
a 42-31 victory at En Fuego Field. Pirk (3-7-1)
becomes the first club to officially be ousted
from playoff contention, while the Raze –
thanks to their seventh victory and some other
help from around the league – become one
of three clubs to secure a playoff berth in Week
11.
P.W.O.P. started the game with a flurry, hammering
Piana behind a season-best 15 points from quarterback
Byron Leftwich and 9 from kicker Jay Feely. P.W.O.P.
kept the pressure on in the afternoon, as both
Rudi Johnson (10) and the Seahawks defense (11)
reached double-digits. The Raze fought back Sunday
afternoon, with Kevin Curtis and Reggie Wayne
combining for 17 points, but the deficit to the
Profiteer$ remained large (22 points) heading
into Sunday Night. Then halfback Larry Johnson
went to work, scorching P.W.O.P. for a career-best
17 points to bring Piana to within 5. The next
night, the Raze's Packers squad finished the comeback
with a 16-point effort, giving Piana the season
sweep over their division rivals.
Having won four of their past five games, the7-4
Raze will be heading back to the playoffs after
missing the dance last year. Pirk, meanwhile,
will miss out on the postseason bracket for the
second consecutive year and remains in line to
participate in 2005's Draft Bowl.

Machines shocked Jody's Colossal Waste of Time,
36-30, at the Vortex, snapping the C.W.O.T.'s
three-game winning streak and handing them their
first home loss of the season. Despite having
three offensive players score 2, 2, and 0 points,
the Machines also had three starters reach double-digits.
Quarterback Tom Brady sliced through Jody's secondary
for 11 points, while Donte Stallworth brought
down 10 and Neil Rackers booted an additional
13. Perhaps most significantly, the Machines'
Ravens defense had its best game in a month, ripping
19 points away from Jody.
The C.W.O.T. didn't go down without a fight, of
course. Marc Bulger threw for 10 points before
leaving the game with an injury, and halfback
Mike Anderson found the endzone three times while
contributing 16 points of his own. Yet Anderson's
counterpart – Steven Jackson – had
a horrible outing, actually costing his team a
point. Moreover, Jody's Panther "D"
managed only one-sixth of its total from a week
ago (5 points).
The win is the Machines' second in three weeks
and once again evens their record at 5-5-1. They
will need to win one of their final two games
(both at home) to become playoff eligible. Jody
falls to 6-5 with the loss and – more importantly
– surrenders the inside track to the Eastern
Division title.

Benefiting from
Jody's loss is the Anderson Brewmeisters, who
outlasted a challenge from the Naughty Figs, 37-25,
to avenge an earlier loss to the Naughty Ones.
For the second straight week, Peyton Manning led
the way for the Brewmeisters, ripping the Figs
for 14 points. Unlike last week, however, this
time Peyton got some help. Lawrence Tynes, Torry
Holt, and Steve Smith scored 9, 9, and 8, respectively,
to help keep the Figs at bay.
The Naughties once again benefited from terrific
defensive play as their Steelers unit assaulted
Anderson for 19 points-against. Yet kicker Mike
Nugent was shut out, and halfbacks Clinton Portis
and Willis McGahee combined for only 3 points.
Matt Hasselbeck threw for 8 and receiver Jerry
Porter contributed another 10, but it ultimately
wasn't enough.
The Figs drop to 4-7 with the loss, but remain
on the fringe of playoff eligibility. Regardless
of how the next two weeks play out, the Figgies
will not be able to avoid their fifth losing season
in six career years. Anderson, meanwhile, clinch
a playoff berth with their seventh win of the
season and reclaim a one-game lead over Jody in
the East.

| The Irwin Hellions
snapped out of their two-game funk with a 52-20
pasting of The Pimps at Purgatory Field. The visitors
were led by the unstoppable Shaun Alexander (12
points) and the Jaguars defense (11), but a pair
of starters – Corey Dillon and Joey Galloway
– didn't record a single point. Irwin, meanwhile,
had six starters score nine or more: new starting
QB Eli Manning had a team-high 13, followed by
Chad Johnson and Nate Kaeding with 12 apiece,
Edgerrin James and the Bucs "D" with
11, and finally Eddie Kennison with 9. The Hellions
overall 74-point effort was more than three times
their lowly total (24) in the loss to Sims last
week.
The win clinches a playoff berth for the Hellions,
who remain a game ahead of the Raze in the Western
Division. The Pimps see their two-game winning
streak snapped, but remain in the playoff conversation
at 4-7.

| The Sims Stereco
are alive! A week after upsetting the Irwin Hellions,
the Stereco take out another Western Division
title contender, this time besting Thomas' Bock
Boys 39-26 at Bockyard Stadium. Game ball goes
to the Cardinals defense, who stripped Thomas
of 15 points a week after failing to register
anything against the Hellions. Mike Vick (11 points)
and halfback Chris Brown (12) led the way for
the Stereco offense. Reuben Droughns had a break-out
party for the Bock Boys, scoring a career-best
11 points. Shayne Graham booted in 13 more, but
four other starters scored two points or less,
opening the door for the upset.
The Stereco rise to 4-7 on the strength of consecutive
wins and remain in the playoff hunt. Thomas, having
now lost three straight, is perhaps heading in
the opposite direction. The Bock Boys, who are
now two games back in the East, will likely need
at least one more win to secure a playoff berth.
