Waste of Time used some much needed home cooking
to put a stop to their three-game losing streak.
Following a trifecta of road losses, the C.W.O.T.
flexed their defensive muscle in besting the Naughty
Figs at The Vortex, 25-8. Jody's Panthers defense
shredded the Figs for 28 points, putting them
in a hole they just couldn't get out of. On offense,
Chris Palmer was impressive with 11 points in
his first career start for the Pewter & Black,
and Steven Jackson ran for additional 7.
The Figs got 11 points from halfback Willis McGahee
and another 7 from Clinton Portis, but the rest
of the offense was held in check. Their Colts
defense stung Jody for 14 points, but it was only
effective in making the score more respectable.
The divisional victory is Jody's third of the
season, which already surpasses their 2004 divisional
win total (2) just six games into the 2005 campaign.
The Figs fall to 2-4 with the loss.

| The Abstract
Machines finally purred like a well-tuned engine,
systematically taking apart Thomas' Bock Boys
to earn their first divisional victory of the
season. Showing flashes of last season, Tom Brady
and Curtis Martin each scored 10 points, while
newcomers Jeremy Shockey and Jay Feely chipped
in 9 apiece.
Thomas couldn't match the offensive firepower,
as only Priest Holmes (with 12 points) could score
more than 4. Stephen Davis and Plaxico Burress
were each held to a single point and Randy Moss
was forced out of the game with injury before
registering a catch. The Bock Boys' Cowboys defense
came to play, however, hitting the Machines for
22 points. The Abstract's Ravens defense countered
that with 22 points of its own, to ensure the
rout. Thomas drops to 4-2 with the loss, while
the Machines improve to 3-2-1 on the strength
of their third consecutive victory.

The Irwin Hellions
took their third straight game from the Piana
Raze, besting the blue jerseys 42-28 at En Fuego
Field. The game was much more competitive than
their last meeting, when Irwin embarrassed the
Raze, 70-8, on this very field last season. Granted,
the Hellions had two receivers fail to record
a single catch and still managed to outscore Piana
by 14. Edgerrin James led all scorers with 17 Monday
Night points that essentially put the game on
ice. Chad Johnson contributed 10 on Sunday, and
the Buccaneers defense rattled the Raze for 17.
Piana's offense seemed handcuffed with the exception
of Mark Brunell, who torched the Hellions for
12 points in his first start since being picked
up last week. The Hellions improve to a league-best
5-1 with the win and finally sit in sole possession
of first place in the West. After a hot start,
Piana drops to 3-3 (which is good enough for only
fourth place in the competitive West).

| The Pimps snapped
out of a four-game funk with a dominating performance
against the visiting Sims Stereco. Even with Corey
Dillon being a game-time scratch, The Pimps had
more than enough production on the ground. Shaun
Alexander plowed through the Stereco defense with
a 142-yard, 4 touchdown game, racking up 19 points.
The Pimps' Jaguars defense delivered the follow-up
blow, cracking on Sims for 23 points.
Those combined 42 points would prove to be more
than enough to handle the lifeless Stereco. Only
halfback Chris Brown (9 points) produced any serious
offensive threat, and the Saints defense managed
to only hit The Pimps for 7 harmless points. The
loss is Sims' second straight and drops the Stereco
to 2-4 on the season, the same mark as the rejuvenated
Pimps heading into Neutral Site Week.

| The Anderson
Brewmeisters continued their mid-season surge,
routing Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ by 46 points
in Oil Town, USA. The Brewmeisters' offense tagged
the Profiteer$ with three double-digit performances:
Peyton Manning with 10, LaDainian Tomlinson with
18, and Santana Moss with 15. The biggest blow,
however, came on defense, where their Lions squad
totaled 22 points on the strength of two interceptions
returned for touchdowns.
Pirk couldn't match the firepower, with only
two players (Warrick Dunn and the Seattle defense)
scoring above seven points. Four others scored
four points or less. The win is the fourth straight
for Anderson (4-2), who sit a game ahead of the
second-place C.W.O.T. in the Eastern Division.
The loss is the third straight for the struggling
Profiteer$ (1-4-1), who have failed to reach 20
points in four of their six games to date.
