Week 4 Recaps
Hellions Corral Bock Boys

Irwin throttles the Boys in the Hellhole (again), and Anderson slips past Jody to get back to .500. All this and more in.

The Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

Thomas' Bock Boys at Irwin Hellions
28   45

The Irwin Hellions outlasted Thomas' Bock Boys, 45-28, at Purgatory Field, handing Thomas its first loss on the season. Donovan McNabb led the charge for Irwin with 15 points, while Edgerrin James ran for 9 more and Nate Kaeding connected for 11. Thomas handed the offense back over the Daunte Culpepper, who in turn managed to finish with positive points (3) for the first time this season. Plaxico Burress helped pick up the slack with a career day, roasting the Hellions for 16 points. Stephen Davis and Shayne Graham also contributed 10 points apiece, keeping Thomas close in the most hostile of environments.

Things came undone for the Boys from Bockville on defense, however, where their Cowboys unit was dwarfed in performance by Irwin's Falcons squad, 29-6. Unable to recover, Thomas dropped his seventh straight game in the Hellhole and saw his 2005 record slip to 3-1. The victorious Hellions (a home field advantage loss away from perfection), slide back into a tie for the division lead with the win.

Jody's C.W.O.T. at Anderson Brewmeisters
47   54

For the second straight week, the Anderson Brewmeisters gave up a ton of points, but for the second straight week they also come away with a win, clipping Jody's Colossal Waste of Time, 54-47, at Saint Arnold Stadium. Peyton Manning finally began his season, ripping the C.W.O.T. for a game-high 17 points. LaDainian Tomlinson followed up his 22-point performance from a week ago with a stellar 15-point outing against Jody. Anderson almost gave the game away on defense, however, where their Patriots squad actually gave the C.W.O.T. four points.

Jody actually had a very balanced offensive attack, with Marc Bulger leading the way with 9 points and halfbacks Steven Jackson and Deuce McAllister combining for 15 more. Even so, those three players' combined 24-point effort is 8 points less than Manning's and Tomlinson's for the Brew Krew. The loss is the second straight for Jody, while the win is actually Anderson's second straight, tieing the two clubs' records at 2-2.

The Pimps at Abstract Machines
21   54

The Abstract Machines made quick work of their first interdivisional opponent of the season, blasting The Pimps by 33 points in a Wild Card rematch from a year ago. Largely unproductive in the three previous weeks, the ol' Mechanical stand-bys of Marvin Harrison (11 points), Anquan Boldin (9), and the Ravens defense (16) help pace the rout and finally score a mark in the win column.

The Pimps were perhaps suffering a hangover from last week's shootout loss to Anderson; they basically only managed half of their Week 3 team performance against the Machines. Jake Delhomme, Shaun Alexander, and Jimmy Smith each had 8 points, but Issac Bruce was a gametime scratch and the Jaguars defense could only muster 6 points-against, leaving The Pimps well short of Win No. 2.

Piana Raze at P.W.O.P.
16   1

The visiting Piana Raze used another strong defensive effort to handcuff Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ by the rather unusual score of 16-1. The Raze's Bengals defense stripped 19 points from the misfiring Profiteer$, who kept the score close thanks to a 20-point effort from its own Eagles defense.

Jason Elam led the home team in scoring with a pedestrian 6 points, while five other Profiteer starters combined for only 5 points. Piana was not without its own offensive struggles, but the ground game proved to be the difference as Tiki Barber and Julius Jones combined for 15 points. The win is the third straight for the Raze, who now find themselves in a three-way tie atop the Western Division with Thomas and Irwin. Pirk drops to 1-2-1 after suffering its first loss since Kickoff Weekend.

Naughty Figs at Sims Stereco
13   43

The rapid descent of the Naughty Figs continued in Week 4 as they were thoroughly routed, 43-13, by the Sims Stereco. Sims, trying to put together a playoff-worthy campaign for the first time since 2002, signed Sebastian Janikowski and the Saints defense last week for an infusion in scoring. The two new Stereco did not disappoint, scoring 14 (Janikowski) and 16 (Saints) points in the rout.

The Figs countered with a team-high 9 points from one of their own signees, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Willis McGahee ran for 8 more, but the three receivers combined for only 5 points (which was 7 shy of Sims' Terrell Owens). The loss is the Figs third straight, while Sims improves to 2-2 with the divisional win.
