| The Anderson
Brewmeisters snapped a two-game skid with a clutch
49-21 victory over The Pimps at Saint Arnold Stadium.
Anderson's Patriot defense silenced their critics
with a 19-point game against the division co-leaders.
The Pimps, meanwhile, only got a single point
from their own Texans defense. Actually, their
whole Texan Connection came up short as David
Carr, Corey Bradford, and Kris Brown combined
for only 6 points – and all of those were
scored by Carr. The Pimp ground attack had one
of its best games, however, as Corey Dillon and
Shaun Alexander scored 10 and 14 points, respectively.
Their 24 points were 16 more than Brewmeisters
LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook accounted
for, but Peyton Manning ripped The Pimps for 18
through the air. Torry Holt had an additional
9 and new placekicker Phil Dawson booted another
8 in the win.
Anderson earns an important season split against
The Pimps with the win, but still trails The Feathered
Ones by a game in the East. The loss is a costly
one for The Pimps, who now find themselves out
of the division lead for the first time all season
thanks to a Figs victory over the Stereco.

| The Piana Raze
continued their surge back into playoff contention
with a crushing 56-21 victory over Thomas' Bock
Boys at En Fuego Field. Perhaps still stinging
from last year's Super Bowl loss to Thomas, Piana
posted its best overall performance in years to
hand the Boys their first loss since Week 5.
Tiki Barber led the Raze offensive assault with
13 points. Marc Bulger had 9 in his return from
bye, and Jamal Lewis scored 8 more in his return
from a suspension. Yet the biggest weapon for
the Raze was their kicker; Adam Vinatieri had
a career day with four field goals and a TD pass
for a whopping 20 points. Overwhelmed but determined,
Thomas fought back as Daunte Culpepper threw for
8 points and Tony Gonzales brought down 9. Priest
Holmes and Rueben Droughns were held to 6 apiece,
however, stalling the comeback. Piana put the
final hammer down on defense, where its Steeler
unit bested Thomas' Eagles squad 19-7.
The win is Piana's second-straight over a division
leader and moves them to within two-games of the
Western lead. The loss drops Thomas to 5-4 and
a game back of the Abstract Machines.

The West-leading
Abstract Machines overcame a sluggish start to
put down the visiting Irwin Hellions and earn
a season split in the divisional series. Hellion
quarterback Donovan McNabb (0 points) was neutralized
altogether by the Machines defense, but Edgerrin
James and Domanick Davis picked up the slack,
combining for 20 points on the ground. The Machines
only got 3 points from their own backfield, as
Curtis Martin was held in check and Duce Staley
was a late scratch with a hamstring injury. Tom
Brady managed to rebound from a rough game last
week with 9 points, and receiver Darrell Jackson
has a season-best 12 to keep the Machines in it.
Then, on Sunday night, the Machines' Ravens defense
flexed its muscle, hammering Irwin for a game-breaking
19 points.
The win is the sixth of the season for the Machines,
who won only six games all of last year. More
importantly, the win elevates the Machines back
into sole possession of first place in the Western
Division. The Hellions, meanwhile, drop below
.500 for the first time all season and will need
to win at least two of their final four games
to become playoff eligible.

| The Naughty Figs
posted a historic 39-24 victory over the imploding
Sims Stereco to move a game ahead of the second-place
Pimps in the Eastern Division race. Clinton Portis,
Willis McGahee, and Santana Moss each scored 11
points for the Figs, but quarterback Chad Pennington
was knocked out of the game after scoring 3 points
and will miss a couple of weeks. The Stereco offense
stalled early and never really threatened. Mike
Vick stand-in Drew Bledsoe actually led the team
with a respectable 8 points, but four other starters
were held below 4, including Terrell Owens, who
was limited to a season-low of 3.
The win is historic for the Figs on multiple
fronts. First, their seven wins in 2004 is now
the most in franchise history. Second, this is
their first season sweep over the Stereco, who
at one time had won 6 straight in the series.
From the other sideline, the loss drops Sims to
3-6, meaning the Strereco would need to win three
of their final four to even become playoff eligible.

| In a game that
lived up to its Draft Bowl Preview hype, Pirk's
Wicked Oil Profiteer$ eeked out a narrow 28-27
home field victory over Jody's Colossal Waste
of Time. The visiting C.W.O.T. were led by Antonio
Gates and Deuce McAllister with 12 and 7 points,
respectively. Rookie Steven Jackson, however,
failed to get a single point in his spot start,
and the C.W.O.T. didn't have an active kicker
to field, further limiting their scoring. Pirk
started his third different QB in as many weeks,
and rookie Ben Roethlisberger produced a respectable
7points. Rudi Johnson had 6 more on the ground,
and Hines Ward pulled down 8 more to keep the
Profiteer$ close.
Heading into Monday Night, P.W.O.P. trailed by
only 2 points, and receivers Brandon Stokley and
Marcus Robinson did the absolute minimum to send
the fans home happy. Their 3 combined points secured
Pirk its second straight win and pinned a league-worst
seventh loss on the defending Eastern Division
champions.
