The Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

Naughty Figs at The Pimps
39   24

The Naughty Figs snapped a two-game losing streak with a 39-24 road victory over the previously undefeated Pimps in the Week 6 Game of the Week.

The Figs went back to basics, using a ball-hogging ground game to wear down the Eastern Division leaders. Fred Taylor and Clinton Portis each had solid games with 10 points apiece, and placekicker Josh Brown posted his own season's best of 12 points. The Pimps offense sputtered in their first home game in a month, with five of their six offensive starters scoring less than 5 points. Only Shaun Alexander and kicker Kris Brown provided highlight material with identical 9-point efforts.

The loss drops The Pimps' record to 5-1, which remains the league's best. The Figs gain some much-needed ground, however, improving to 4-2 and only a game back of the division lead. Perhaps more significant, the Figs' four victories is already more than they earned in all of last season.

Irwin Hellions at Thomas' Bock Boys
0   58

Total Domination. That's pretty much the only way to describe the Bock Boys' 58-0 manhandling of the rival Irwin Hellions at Bockyard Stadium. It can also be described as one of the worst beatings administered in league history as well as only the second shutout ever suffered by the Hellion franchise.

How did it get so bad? Let us count the ways: First, only one offensive player for the Hellions posted more than 3 points (Jimmy Smith with 5). Second, Thomas' Eagles defense – who last week sat out and arguably cost their team a win – stripped Irwin of all 14 points the Hellion offense had mustered. Third, Daunte Culpepper had his third 20+ point outing of the season. On top of that, three other Boys posted at least 7 points apiece.

The win evens the defending Super Bowl Champion's record at 3-3 and pulls them into a tie with Irwin. Perhaps more importantly, though, the rout sends a message to the rest of the league that the Boys – truly are – back in town.

Anderson Brewmeisters at Sims Stereco
48   29

The Anderson Brewmeisters completed a season sweep of the Sims Stereco with a 48-29 road victory over their Eastern division rival. Torry Holt led the Brewmeister charge with 12 Monday Night points, while LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook ran for an additional 7 apiece. Interim QB Drew Brees even had 6 during Peyton Manning's bye week. Sims countered with a season-best 13 from Mike Vick, 6 from Marshall Faulk, and 6 from Terrell Owens. The rest of the offense stalled however, and the Saints defense gave up more yards (605) than the league had ever seen. The win is the fourth in a row for Anderson, who pulls to within a game of the division-leading Pimps. The loss is already Sims' fourth inside the division and drops the Stereco to 2-4.

Jody's C.W.O.T. at Abstract Machines
24   52

The surging Abstract Machines did something their Western Division peers could not in the past two years – beat Jody's Colossal Waste of Time. Indeed, Tom Brady and Company handed Jody their worst defeat of the season, a 28-point romp that sent the defending Eastern Division Champs to a disappointing 2-4 record. The C.W.O.T. managed to get big games from their Saintly connection of Aaron Brooks (10 points) and Deuce McAllister (11 points), but three other players failed to reach 3. While Brady had a pedestrian day with only 4 points for the home team, Curtis Martin (13), Donald Driver (12), and their stand-in Jets defense (11) each reached double-digits in the win. The Machines have now won three straight and sit impressively alone in first atop the Western Division at 4-2.

P.W.O.P. at Piana Raze
16   36

In a Western Division showdown that someone had to win, the Piana Raze took down the visiting Profiteer$ 36-16 at En Fuego Field. First-year Raze members Marc Bulger, Kevan Barlow, and Michael Clayton each contributed 7 points towards the win, but the biggest boost came from the special teams and defense. Kicker Adam Vinatieri booted 12 points while the RAze's Steeler "D" robbed Pirk of 13 points. P.W.O.P. rallied with 7 points from Ahman Green, Randy Moss, and Jason Elam, but the combined team effort wasn't enough to stave off their fifth loss of the season. Piana improves to 2-4 with the win, keeping their slimming hopes of defending their divisional crown alive.
