| The Naughty Figs
defeated a divisional opponent for the second
week in a row, this time besting the defending
Eastern champion C.W.O.T. 29-21. The victory is
the first over Jody since 2001 for the Figs, who
are off to a surprising 2-0 start in the young
season.
Fig quarterback Chad Pennington had his second
straight double-digit game (11 points), and rookie
Roy Williams benefited with 10 points of his own.
Clinton Portis and Fred Taylor were held to just
6 combined points on the ground, but Joe Horn
and Santana Moss picked up the slack, slicing
through the C.W.O.T. secondary for a combined
13. Aaron Brooks rallied the C.W.O.T. with a game-high
15 points, but the other 5 offensive starters
could only muster 11 more, leaving the visitors
in a huge hole. Jody's heralded Dolphin defense
had a monstrous 17 point game Sunday night, but
it was too little, too late to avoid the loss.
Unfortunately, the game was more costly than
in just the standings for the C.W.O.T., as Deuce
McAllister and Todd Heap both went down with injury.
The two are expected to miss several weeks for
the already thin Pewter & Black.

| The defending
Super Bowl Champion Bock Boys saw their five-game
winning streak go up in smoke with a 26-18 road
loss to The Pimps. Thomas, who had posted the
league's best effort last week, was held to the
lowest point total in Week 2.
The home-town Pimps jumped out to an early lead
on the champs, as first-time starter Jake Delhomme
threw for a team-high 9 points. Corey Dillon doubled
his point total from a week ago with 8 points,
and Isaac Bruce and Rod Smith combined for another
9. The real muscle for The Pimps, though, came
from the defense, where its Cowboys squad tagged
Thomas for 17 points. The Bock Boys struggled
to catch up, with Priest Holmes and Quentin Griffin
only combining for 9 points a week after scoring
32. A late Monday night rally had Daunte Culpepper
scoring 8 and the Eagles defense 11, but it wasn't
enough to avoid the interdivisional loss.
The win is the fourth straight for The Pimps,
dating back to last season, and keeps them atop
the Eastern Division tied with the Figs at 2-0.
The champs slip to 1-1 as they head into a Super
Bowl rematch with the Raze next week.

The Irwin Hellions
and Anderson Brewmeisters recorded an early nominee
for Game of the Year in Week 2, as the two clubs
boasted the two best performances in the league.
In the end, Donovan McNabb's Monday night heroics
catapulted the Hellions to a 31-29 victory over
the home-town Brewmeisters.
Anderson took control of the game early with
11 points apiece from Peyton Manning and LaDainian
Tomlinson, and another 9 from wideout Torry Holt.
The Hellions countered with 12 from Edgerrin James
and 9 from kicker Todd Peterson. The two defenses
put on quite a show of their own, with Anderson's
new Patriots squad besting Irwin's Buccaneers
22-16. By the end of play Sunday, the Brewmeisters
had forged a 9-point lead. But then, under the
Monday night lights, Donovan McNabb ripped the
Brewskies for a game-high 15 points, while Anderson
halfback Brian Westbrook was held to just 4.
The dramatic come-from-behind victory lifts the
Hellions to 2-0 and into sole possession of first
place in the West. The loss is the second straight
to open the season for Anderson, who now already
sits two games back of The Pimps and the Figs
in the East.

Machines slipped past the Piana Raze at En Fuego
Field, 30-24, thanks to some Monday night points
of their own. Down 3 after Sunday, kicker Morten
Andersen booted 9 points to score the Machines
their first win of 2004.
The Piana Raze rebounded from a horrific Week
1, jumping all over the Machines early. First-round
pick Kevan Barlow ran for a team-high 12 points,
while Jamal Lewis and Reggie Wayne each had 9.
Unfortunately, two Raze receivers were shut out
altogether, allowing the visitors to pick themselves
up off the mat. Curtis Martin led the counter-assault
while continuing his career revival with 13 points,
but it was ultimately the play of the Ravens defense
that brought the Machines back into it. Ray Lewis
and company hammered Piana for 20 game-changing
points, putting Andersen in a position to complete
the comeback Monday night. The disappointing loss
drops the defending Eastern Division champion
Raze to a 0-2.

| A week after
posting the league's second best effort in Week
1, Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ pulled an S.S.
Valdez against the Sims Stereco, clocking in the
league's worst showing in a 41-37 loss.
Hines Ward (11 points) and Randy Moss (6) led
the Profiteer$ attack, but no other offensive
starters were able to score more than 4. Even
the Titan defense that hammered Thomas for 20
points last week was only able to post one-fifth
that total against Sims. The Stereco weren't without
their own struggles. While Mike Vick led the offense
with 12, their Rams defense actually coughed up
a point to the Profiteer$, leaving them in a hole
heading into Monday night. Terrell Owens and David
Akers combined for an inspired 17 points, including
Akers' 47-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter
thAt proved to be the difference maker. The Stereco
victory is their third straight over Pirk and
first of the season. P.W.O.P., meanwhile, suddenly
find themselves two games back in the West at
0-2.
