| Hours after a
sloppy interdivisional battle between Jody's Colossal
Waste of Time and the Piana Raze, champagne flowed
freely in both locker rooms as the two clubs celebrated
winning their respective division titles. Earlier,
the C.W.O.T. claimed a narrow 31-30 victory over
the Raze to complete an impressive five-game sweep
of Western opponents. The win, paired with Anderson's
heart-breaking home loss to The Pimps, secured
Jody's third Eastern Division title and first
since 2000. Despite the loss, Piana clinched their
first Western Division title since 1998 with losses
by both Thomas' Bock Boys and Pirk's Wicked Oil
Profiteer$.
The game ball in this battle of division champs
goes to the C.W.O.T.'s Deuce McAllister, who continued
his hot run with a season-high 17 points against
the Raze. His efforts came up big for the Pewter
& Black, who had three other starters held
to a combined 4 points. The Raze were led by kicker
Gary Anderson and his 8 points. Jake Plummer rallied
the troops for 7 more, but receiver Johnnie Morton
was shut out completely in the one-point loss.
The Raze's last ditch comeback effort fell short
Monday Night, when Tiki Barber was neutralized
by Jody's Martin Gramatica (5 points each).
The win is the third straight for Jody, who is
now tied with Piana for the best record in the
league at 8-4. A win next week over The PImps
or a Raze loss would award the C.W.O.T. the No.
1 playoff seed.

| The Pimps, left
for dead by most FLF critics, reached back and
brought their "A" game to Saint Arnold
Stadium this week, stunning the Anderson Brewmeisters,
36-35, to win only their second game in the last
seven weeks.
Jon Kitna took back the reigns to The Pimps struggling
offense and ripped the Brewmeister defenders for
a game-high 16 points. Halfback Michael Bennett,
making his first start of the season, scored a
respectable 7, and receivers Rod Smith and Isaac
Bruce combined for an additional 15. Anderson
got 18 points from its backfield of LaDainian
Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook, but it most surprising
contribution came on defense. The much criticized
Vikings unit finally answered the call, stripping
15 points from The Pimps while scoring two touchdowns
on their own. Despite these timely heroics, the
Brewmeisters still found themselves down by three
heading into Monday Night. Unfortunately for the
Saint Arnold faithful, receiver Ike Hilliard fell
seven yards and one point shy of avoiding the
loss.
The Pimps move to 5-7 with the win, and keep
their playoff hopes alive for another week. The
loss, meanwhile, puts a fork in Anderson's bid
for the Eastern Division title. More significantly,
however, it puts the Brewmeisters into essentially
a playoff game against P.W.O.P. in Week 13.

The late-season
freefall of Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ continued
in earnest this week as the OilMen were shelled
in front of the home crowd, 52-13, by the surging
Irwin Hellions. The 39-point loss is by far the
worst of the season for Pirk, who see their 6-2
start washed out following their fourth consecutive
defeat.
The Hellions attacked form the onset, getting
11 points apiece from quarterback Donovan McNabb
and halfback Edgerrin James, and an additional
14 from 1st Round pick Chad Johnson. Pirk's high
scorer, by contrast, was Ahman Green with 8. Steve
McNair was held to 6 before leaving the game with
an injured calf. Pirk's Titan defense had strong
14-point outing, but it was overshadowed by Irwin's
often dominating Buccaneer unit, which posted
24 points of its own.
The victory moves Irwin to 7-5 and guarantees
the Hellions a winning season following last year's
4-9 campaign. More importantly, the Hellions have
punched their playoff ticket for the 2003 dance,
while the 6-6 Profiteer$ must now beat the Brewmeisters
in Week 13 to guarantee a Wild Card berth.

| The Sims Stereco
keep finding ways to keep their improbable title
defense alive. This week, the battered defending
champions scored the franchise's first victory
over Thomas' Bock Boys, 43-35, to stave off playoff
ineligibility for yet another week.
The visiting Bock Boys did their best to shake
free of the Stereco, but their hosts refused to
go quietly. Quarterbacks Daunte Culpepper and
Drew Bledsoe matched 4-point efforts, and the
Eagles and Rams defensive units battled to an
8-8 draw. Bock Boy Priest Holmes managed to clip
the Stereco's Ricky Williams 13-12, but David
Akers got the best of Thomas' Jeff Wilkins, 15-13,
in a kickers duel. In the end, Sims' Stephen Davis
(6 points) and Terrell Owens (5) got the better
of their Bock Boys counterparts to seal the upset.
The loss is the second straight for the Bock
Boys (6-6), who can still secure their fourth
consecutive playoff appearance with a win over
the Machines next week. With their third win in
four games, Sims improves to 5-7 and remains mathematically
alive in the playoff race.

Machines welcomed a healthy Marvin Harrison back
onto the field in Week 12, but it was the efforts
of his understudies that propelled the Mechanical
Ones to an important 49-21 decision over the lowly
Naughty Figs.
Alongside Harrison, receivers Darrell Jackson
and rookie Anquan Boldin combined for 27 points
in pacing the rout. Quarterback Trent Green and
placekicker Morten Anderson continued the attack
with 9 apiece. The Figs got 9 from halfback Clinton
Portis and 6 from three other players, but it
wasn't near enough. The Machines also won the
defensive battle in convincing fashion, with their
Ravens unit besting the Figs' Bills team 20-5.
The win evens the Machines' record at 6-6 and
sets the table for a win-and-you're-in game with
Thomas next week. The Figs fall to 3-9 with the
loss, and they are now destined to host their
first Draft Bowl in Week 14.
