The Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

Sims Stereco at Jody's C.W.O.T.
20   26

Jody's Colossal Waste of Time snapped its three-game losing streak to the Sims Stereco and avenged last season's Super Bowl loss with a 26-20 victory over the defending champs.

The home-town C.W.O.T. struggled early through the air, as their three starting receivers combined for only four points. Jody found much more success on the ground, where Deuce McAllister overcame two fumbles to post a game-high 14 points and Moe Williams scored another 6 in relief. The Stereco countered with 14 combined points from Stephen Davis and Ricky Williams and another 19 from the receivers thanks to Terrell Owens' team-high 11.That's when Jody turned back time, using its defense and special teams to take control of the game. The C.W.O.T.'s Dolphin defense and kicker Martin Gramatica combined for 27 points, beating out Sims duo of the Rams and David Akers by 12.

The win is the fifth in six games for the C.W.O.T. (7-4) and their first over a divisional opponent other than the Naughty Figs. More importantly, it keeps Jody a game clear of the Brewmeisters in the Eastern Divisional Race. The Stereco loss snaps Sims' two-game winning streak and pushes them to the brink of playoff ineligibility at 4-7.

Piana Raze at P.W.O.P.
34   20

The Piana Raze used the week's best team performance to thwart the suddenly struggling P.W.O.P., 34-20, in Oil Town, USA. Returning from injury and making his first start since Week 5, QB Jake Plummer passed for three scores and a game-high 11 points in leading the Raze to victory. Tiki Barber contributed 10 more on the ground, and receiver Reggie Wayne continued his strong play with a 7-point outing. P.W.O.P. shot back with 9 apiece from Ahman Green and former-Razer Peter Warrick, but stars Randy Moss and Steve McNair were held to a combined 4 points. Piana's Panther defense came up big with a season-high effort, winning the defensive battle from Pirk's Titan squad 17-10.

The win lifts the Raze to a league-best mark of 8-3 and earns them a season split in the series while knocking the Profiteer$ two games back with two to play. Perhaps of more concern for the Oilmen, the loss is their third straight and has sent their potential lofty playoff position into free fall.

Thomas' Bock Boys at Irwin Hellions
35   43

Another year, another loss for Thomas' Bock Boys at Purgatory Field. This time around, Donovan McNabb and Edgerrin James proved to be more than the visiting Bock Boys could handle, and the Irwin Hellions claimed an important 43-35 victory over their Western Division rivals. McNabb and James both had season-high outings of 12 and 17 points, respectively. Rookie receiver Andre Johnson had 7 more for the Hellions, who needed the offense to spell the Bucs' pedestrian 4-point defensive showing. Thomas got 11 from its placekicker, but the offensive high was only 7 turned in from both Daunte Culpepper and Tony Gonzales. Culpepper actually suffered five turnovers (minus-10 points), arguably crippling his team's chances to win.

The Hellions (6-5) bounce back over .500 and earn an important season sweep of the Bock Boys with the win.The loss -- Thomas' fifth in five appearances at the Hellhole -- is only the second in seven weeks for the Bockers, who drop to 6-5 in a three-way tie for second in the West.

Anderson Brewmeisters at Abstract Machines
41   25

The Anderson Brewmeisters rebounded from a Week 10 setback to cool off the Abstract Machines, 41-25 in Week 11's lone interdivisional contest. Halfback Brian Westbrook scored a game-high 14 points for the Brewmeisters in only his second start of the season. Receiver Torry Holt contributed another 9 towards the win. Machines quarterback Trent Green had a solid game, edging out Anderson's Peyton Manning 12-11, but he got very little support; only rookie Anquan Boldin of the remaining five offensive starters scored more than 3 points. After scoring a combined minus-1 point in its first three starts for the Brewmeisters, the Vikings defense finally showed some teeth, doubling up the MAchines' Ravens unit, 10-5.

Anderson improves to 6-5 with the win and remains a game back of the C.W.O.T. in the East. The Machines see their two-game winning streak snapped with the loss, and they fall to 5-6, currently on the outside looking in of the playoff picture.

The Pimps at Naughty Figs
19   29

The Naughty Figs rode a 13-point game from quarterback Chad Pennington to a 29-19 home victory over the division rival Pimps. Halfback Clinton Portis added another 5 to the cause, but Pennington's efforts were helped most by an inspired 18-point outing from the Figs' Bills defense. The Pimps tried to rally with 8 from Tommy Maddox and 10 from team MVP Shaun Alexander, but two other players -- newcomer Marcel Shipp and Tai Streets -- were shut out altogether, essentially quashing a comeback bid.

The loss is the third straight for the defending Eastern Division champs, who fall to 4-7 and onto the unfamiliar cusp of playoff ineligibility. Despite the win, the Figs still suffer from the league's worst record at 3-8.
