Jody's Colossal
Waste of Time looks to rebound from last week's
loss to Anderson as it hosts the lowly Naughty
Figs in the opening game of Week 10. The C.W.O.T.
have been dismal in divisional play this season,
managing only a 1-4 record in the East. That one
win, however, was against these very Figs, and
now Jody aims for the season sweep -- not to mention
a fifth straight victory -- over the Purple &
White.
The Figs are once again on the verge of playoff
ineligibility. At a league-worst 2-7, they're
also on the inside track to make the franchise's
second appearance in the Draft Bowl. The C.W.O.T.,
meanwhile, are looking to build momentum for yet
another playoff run and possibly a third division
title. This particular meeting will lack considerable
backfield star power as the Figs' Clinton Portis
and Jody's Deuce McAllister will both be out on
bye.

| The Anderson
Brewmeisters are riding high after completing
an impressive season sweep over the C.W.O.T. last
week , inflating their Eastern Divisional record
to 5-1. The defending World Champion Sims Stereco
are riding pretty high themselves, having just
dodged a bullet against P.W.O.P. to snap a four-game
skid. Now they come home to host the Brewmeisters,
whom they tagged for their lone divisional defeat
back in Week 2.
The Brewmeisters can attribute their success
to the triumvirate of Peyton manning, LaDainian
Tomlinson, and Torry Holt, each of whom have scored
over 70 points this season. Sims, by contrast,
has only one offensive player over 60 points (Steven
Davis with 66). Yet, at least lately, the Stereco
have been getting much more production from their
defense than Anderson. Surely the Brewskies can't
afford for their Vikings D to keep posting zero
points, right? Then again...

| The Piana Raze
head East to take on The Pimps in the week's lone
interdivisional matchup. The Raze have dropped
two of their last three, but remain tied atop
the West. More importantly, their six wins makes
them playoff eligible for the first time since
2000, when they lost to these Pimps during Wild
Card Week. The defending Eastern Division champs,
meanwhile, have dropped three of four and are
in danger of missing the playoffs for the first
time since the league's inaugural season in '97.
Aside from that playoff loss three years ago,
Piana was embarrassed by The Pimps in their last
meeting, a 33-0 romp during Neutral Site Week,
2002. The Raze offense is in much better shape
now than it was then, thanks largely to the emergence
of Brad Johnson at QB and development of Jamal
Lewis in the backfield. The Pimps have struggled
for consistency on offense, but their defense
and special teams are solid. Regardless, they'll
need everyone to step it up if they're to avoid
a damaging 0-5 campaign against the West this
season.

| The Irwin Hellions
meet the Abstract Machines in the first of two
critical Western Division tilts in Week 10. The
Machines took the first meeting between the clubs
this year, but if the season ended today, only
Irwin would be invited to the playoffs. A season
sweep over the Hellions, however, would even the
two clubs' records and give the Machines an all-important
tiebreaker advantage down the stretch.
The Machines ran past Irwin in Week 2 thanks
to their Raven defense and the legs of Marshall
Faulk and Corey Dillon. Two months later, the
Ravens are back for more, but veterans Faulk and
Dillon have been replaced on the roster by the
young T.J. Duckett, Troy Hambrick, and Arlen Harris.
The Hellions have their share of young stars as
well, namely Andre Johnson, Chad Johnson, and
Domanick Davis. This game should be a nice exhibition
of rebuilding Western powers looking to return
to the postseason.

THOMAS 33, at P.W.O.P. 10 |

| Without a doubt,
the most intriguing game of the week comes from
Bockville, where the surging Bock Boys look to
sweep the season series from Pirk's Wicked Oil
Profiteer$ and possibly gain a share of the Western
Division lead.
The Profiteer$ all but conceded last week's game
to Sims by not fielding a quarterback or defense,
but nevertheless made a game of it heading into
Monday Night. Even in that loss, the prolific
P.W.O.P. offense posted 45 points. In fact, only
twice this year have the Profiteer$ been held
to less than 30, scoring 26 in a loss to Jody
and a season-worst 10 in a Week 3 loss to Thomas.
This week though, Pirk welcomes back Steve McNair
and the Titan defense to active duty, and Travis
Henry and Ahman Green are itching to atone for
their poor showings in Week 3.
After an 0-2 start, defending division champion
Bock Boys have gone 5-2 to remain in the divisional
hunt. A loss here, however, would drop them two
games back with three to play, essentially leaving
them to fight for a wild card. So it's good for
Thomas that Priest Holmes and Tony Gonzales come
back from their bye this week. Holmes leads all
runningbacks in scoring with 89 points (Pirk's
Green is second at 84), and he torched the Profiteer$
for 13 points in their first meeting.
For P.W.O.P., their first Western Divisional
title could very well be at hand, but they'll
have to earn it over the season's final month.
Currently, not one of their four remaining opponents
has a losing record, and, beginning with Thomas,
they have three straight games against former
division champions. Here's the bell for Round
1.
