Thomas' Bock Boys won their first Western Division
title with authority this week, crushing the contending
P.W.O.P. 37-5 in their own back yard. Bock Boy Priest
Holmes led all offensive scorers with 15 points and
kept ahead of the Profiteer$' Travis Henry, who finished
with 12. Thomas actually won the scoring battle at every
single position, winning most impressively on defense.
The Bock Boys' Eagles team doubled up P.W.O.P.'s Saints
unit 36-18 in a hard-hitting, physical affair. For Thomas,
the win avenges a 30-12 Profiteer defeat three weeks
ago in Bockville and crowns the Bock Boys Western Division
Champions by a half-game. Thomas will get to rest up
on a bye week while The Profiteer$, having their five
game winning streak snapped, enter the playoffs as the
No. 4 seed and will host a Wild Card game next week.
Congratulations to Thomas Bock Boys, who become the
first Western team other than Piana or Irwin to win
the division title.

The red-hot Sims Stereco raced past the reeling C.W.O.T.,
53-33, to secure the franchise it second-ever winning
record after the regular season. Yet this game was much
more damaging for the C.W.O.T. than it was rewarding
for the Stereco, as it gives the Eastern Division title
— and subsequent bye week — to The Pimps.
First overall draft pick Michael Vick ran the C.W.O.T.
silly, tallying 173 yards on the ground and 15 points.
Not to be out done, Ricky Williams and Garrison Hearst
also dominated from the backfield with 17 and 16 points,
respectively. By contrast, Aaron Brooks and Eddie George
were the high scorers for Jody, contributing 7 apiece.
The C.W.O.T. managed to cut into the lead on defense,
where its Browns unit outperformed Sims' inconsistent
Giants team by 10 points, but it was too little to late
for the pewter and black. Despite having lost two straight
to lose the division and close the season, Jody enters
the playoffs as the No. 3 seed and will host a Wild
Card game next week. Sims, winner of four straight,
will head to Oil Town for a rematch of last year's Wild
Card game with the Profiteer$.

With a playoff berth on the line, the Anderson Brewmeisters
finally put it all together in a must-win game and smoked
the hapless Abstract Machines, 66-17 at Saint Arnold
Stadium. Second-year man LaDainian Tomlinson tore through
the Machines' Bronco defense all day for a career-high
23 points. Eric Moulds and Laveranues Coles combined
for an additional 18 to ensure the rout. The Machines
got 8 points from Corey Dillon but also had two receivers
post goose eggs. That, coupled with a defensive performance
that actually coughed up points to the opponent, spelled
doom for the Machines, who see their season end on a
thud behind a 3-8-2 record. The Brewmeisters, who finally
got their six win after three tries, will head to the
Vortex to take on arch-rival Jody in Wild Card Week.

The Pimps are Eastern Division Champions for the third
time in four seasons. Not knowing that to begin their
game with the Naughty Figs, Peerless Price and company
left it all on the field. Price had 11 points, while
quarterback Mark Brunell passed for 9 and Shaun Alexander
ran for an additional 8. Their pesky Packer defense
mauled the Figs early on, stripping 21 points from the
home team. Yet news began to trickle in that Jody was
being hammered by the Stereco, and their eventual loss
gave the division title to The Pimps. Meanwhile, concerned
only with their own scoreboard, the Figs began to rally.
Rookie Clinton Portis had his best day as a pro, running
for 16 points. Joe Horn chipped in 8 on Sunday Night,
and Rich Gannon threw for 11 more Monday night, bringing
the Figs to the cusp of victory. With their lead cut
back to a point, Home Field Advantage struck down The
Pimps, giving the Figs the 41-40 upset. At 5-8, the
Figs are done for the season, but close out strong having
won three of their last four. Despite the loss, the
defending division champion Pimps have secured their
fourth appearance in Championship Week in as many seasons.

Curtis Martin has carried the Irwin Hellions to three
straight Western Division titles and two straight Super
Bowl victories. With his fallen team trailing the Piana
Raze by four points Monday night, Martin was stopped
cold at 2 points, giving the Raze only their second
victory of the 13-week campaign. It wasn't a flashy
win, with the highest score from any offensive player
on the field being 6, but the Raze will take it. Besides
having lost five straight to close the season (three
of those at home at Purgatory Field), the Hellions are
breaking new ground. By losing a Points For tie break
with the Abstract Machines, the 4-9 defending champions
have earned a spot in the Draft Bowl, becoming the first
team to ever go from Super Bowl win to Draft Bowl berth
in consecutive seasons. Their Draft Bowl VI opponent?
Why the 2-10-1 Piana RAze, of course.
