Week 11 Recaps
Jody, P.W.O.P. in the lead

The C.W.O.T. handed the Bock Boys their second straight defeat, allowing the victorious Profiteer$ to take command in the West. All this and more in...

The Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

Thomas' Bock Boys 17
Jody's C.W.O.T. 34

You can't blame Thomas' Bock Boys if they feel a little lost coming out of the Vortex following their 34-17 defeat at the hands of the East-leading Colossal Waste of Time. The Bock Boys were beat on both sides of the ball en route to their second straight loss which, coupled with P.W.O.P.'s rout over Piana, dropped them into second place in the Western Division, a half-game back of the Profiteer$. Jody halfback Eddie George had one of his strongest outings of the season, punishing Thomas for 11 points. Aaron Brooks threw for 9 more and helped set up Martin Gramatica's 11 through the uprights. Thomas had a pair of 9-point efforts from Daunte Culpepper and Priest Holmes, but the rest of the offense was stuffed by Jody's Miami defense and their 23-point rampage. The win is the fifth straight for Jody, who remains in the driver's seat in the East.

P.W.O.P. 59
Piana Raze 24

Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ laid it on thick at En Fuego Field, abusing the Piana RAze by the tune of 59-24. Hines Ward led the assault with a season-best 14 points, and quarterback Jeff Garcia chipped in another 12. Testament to the fine-tuned P.W.O.P. offense, three other starters had at least 8 points in the romp. By contrast, Piana had only won player - defense included - score above 7 (Donald Driver with 9). Tom Brady, who had 31 in the previous two games, was stuffed for a single point here. The loss drops Piana to 1-9-1, which already sets a franchise mark for futility in a season. The win is Pirk's fourth straight and, coupled with the Bock Boy loss, moves them into foreign territory - a half-game atop the West.

Anderson Brewmeisters 26
The Pimps 27

Home Field Advantage saved The Pimps from a loss back in Week 3, when they tied the Abstract Machines 15-15. Two months later, the HFA does one better for the slumping Pimps, elevating them to an ugly but crucial one-point victory over the Anderson Brewmeisters, 27-26. How ugly? Place kicker Mike Hollis scored 10 of The Pimps' 26 offensive points; Rod Smith was second on the team with 6. Tommy Maddux, making his first FLF start, was knocked out of the game after a pair of points with a bruised spinal cord. Peyton Manning thrived from the Brewmeisters huddle, however, throwing for a team-high 9 points. LaDainian Tomlinson was second on the squad with 7 in leading the Brew Krew to an offensive victory, but Anderson's defense was their Achilles' heel. Their Steelers team managed to only strip a point form their opposition while The Pimps' Packers unit took 8 game-deciding points from the visitors. The win keeps The Pimps a half-game back of the C.W.O.T., while the loss drops Anderson to a very level 5-5-1 and keeps them on the outside looking in at the playoffs.

Irwin Hellions 22
Abstract Machines 27

The Abstract Machines snapped a three game losing streak and avenged an earlier 39-35 loss to Irwin by tripping up the Hellions, 27-22. With Marshall Faulk out with an injury, the Machines got a big boost from their other super-power - Marvin Harrison - and his 13 points. Drew Brees also showed some poise, tagging the Hellion "D" with 12 of his own. For the second week in a row, the Hellions high scorer was their kicker as Paul Edinger booted 12 on Monday night. Curtis Martin and Jimmy Smith had 7 each to keep Irwin close enough to let their vaunted Buccaneer defense take control of the game. And they almost did, were it not for the Machines' Broncos defense, which clipped the Bucs in a slugfest 26-23 to secure the win. The 4-7 defending champs are now a long shot to make the playoffs, as are the 3-6-2 Machines.

Naughty Figs 24
Sims Stereco 57

The Sims Stereco did what they do best this week in roughing up the Naughty Figs, 57-24. Michael Vick (13 points), Ricky Williams (12), and Terrell Owens (15) each had double-digit points for the Stereco. Clinton Portis and Joe Horn each had a 10-spot for the visitors, but it wasn't near enough to keep up with Sims. The Stereco Giants defense stuck a fork in the Figs' already-thin playoff hopes with a 16-11 advantage over their Bear counterparts. The loss officially eliminated the Figs from playoff eligibility, while the win, Sims' second straight, moves the Stereco to within a win of returning to the playoffs.
