The
Week That Was in Fantasy League Football
| P.W.O.P. |
30 |
| Thomas' Bock Boys |
12 |
Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ can at least say they
were there when Thomas imploded. The Western Division
leaders apparently spent all they had last week against
the Hellions, because they proved to be easy prey for
the second-place P.W.O.P., who claimed an ugly 30-12
victory at Bockyard Stadium.
Profiteer Hines Ward led all scorers with 11 points,
and kicker Joe Nedney came in second on the team with
5. Priest Holmes, as should be expected, led the Bock
Boys with a subdued 6 points. All told, two players
from each team were held without scoring, and only two
scored more than 5. Defensively, P.W.O.P.'s reacquired
Saints team (11 points) had a surprisingly easy time
besting Thomas' Eagles unit (minus-1 point). Ugliness
notwithstanding, the game goes down in the Win column
for Pirk, who climbs to within a mere half-game of the
7-3 Bock Boys. Mark your calendars - these two will
meet again in Week 13 to close out the regular season.

| Sims Stereco |

The Sims Stereco stopped a three game losing streak
by upsetting the Eastern Division-leading Pimps, 44-21.
The win salvages a series split for the Stereco, who
choked royally on Monday Night in a loss to The Pimps
just two weeks ago.
Sims' Michael Vick continued to prove his worth as
the Number 1 overall selection in this year's draft
by dropping a game-high 13 points on the visiting Pimps.
Garrison Hearst, Amani Toomer, and David Akers all contributed
7 more towards the win. The Pimps got strong efforts
from halfback Shaun Alexander (8 points) and receiver
Jerry Rice (11), but couldn't match the Stereco's firepower.
Furthermore, Sims captured a rare defensive victory
as its Giants team nearly doubled up The Pimps' Packers
unit 15-8 to secure the rout. The win lifts Sims to
4-6 and keeps their playoff hopes alive. As for The
Pimps, the loss is their second straight after starting
the season 7-0-1, and it opens the door for the C.W.O.T.
to gain control of the division.

| Abstract Machines |
29 |
Jody's Colossal Waste of Time continued its surge to
the top of the league with a 51-29 thrashing of the
sinking Abstract Machines. Plaxico Burress had a career
game, torching the Machine secondary for 19 game-breaking
points. First-rounder Deuce McAllister provided a formidable
assist with 12 points of his own. Those two players
alone outscored the Machines' offense, but Aaron Brooks
and Anthony Thomas combined for 17 additional points
towards the win. Marvin Harrison (13 points) was the
lone bright spot for the home team, while Quarterback
Drew Brees had his worst outing of the season, costing
his own offense a point. Jody's Dolphin and the Machines'
Bronco defenses took the game off, combining for an
embarrassingly low three points. But the game was already
well in hand, and Jody - now winner of four straight
- leaps a half-game ahead of the struggling Pimps for
the Eastern lead. The Machines, meanwhile, drop their
third straight, and while not quite eliminated from
the playoffs, have ensured themselves a losing record.

| Irwin Hellions |

In a battle of Super Bowl franchises, The Anderson
Brewmeisters went into the Hellhole and roughed up the
Irwin Hellions, 55-35, moving one step closer to qualifying
for the playoffs. Brewmeister signal-caller Peyton Manning
had his best out of the year, ripping the Hellions'
substitute Cardinals defense for 16 points. LaDainian
Tomlinson and returning place kicker John Carney each
contributed an additional 10. The Hellions got 12 points
from its own place kicker, and eight apiece from Donovan
McNabb and Curtis Martin, but that wasn't enough to
keep Irwin from suffering its fourth loss in five games.
Anderson's Pittsburgh "D" finished off the
Hellions with an 11-point advantage over their Cardinal
counterpart, who actually coughed up a point to the
visitors. Anderson wins two straight for the first time
all year and improves its record to 5-4-1. The defending
champs, meanwhile, drop to 4-6 and will now have to
win two of their final three and get some help to avoid
missing the playoffs for the first time in franchise
history.

| Naughty Figs |
58 |
The week's most meaningless game turned out to be its
most competitive, as the Naughty figs rallied past the
Piana Raze in dramatic fashion, 58-55. Trailing 18 points
heading into Monday Night, the Figs' Rich Gannon and
Clinton Portis abused the Raze defense and held off
Ed McCaffrey to steal the win. Gannon finished with
a game-high 17 points, and kicker Ryan Longwell had
his season-best 16. Piana built the Sunday Night lead
behind four players - Tom Brady, Tiki Barber, Jamal
Lewis, and Jay Feely - in double-digits. With the two
defenses playing to an 8-8 tie, it came down to Gannon,
who help snap the team's four game losing streak and
keep the Figs' remote playoff hopes alive. Piana drops
to a league-low 1-8-1 while claiming the inside track
to hosting this season's Draft Bowl.
