The
Week That Was in Fantasy League Football
Pirk's Wicked Oil Profiteer$ put an end to The Pimps
impressive undefeated run, beating the visiting Eastern
Division leaders 37-23.
Quarterback Jeff Garcia helped give the Profiteer$
the early lead with 14 points. Kicker Joe Nedney (11
points) and receiver Hines Ward (7) helped keep the
pressure on the visitors. Pimp QB Mark Brunell was up
to the challenge, throwing for a team-high 12 points.
Peerless Price was the immediate benefactor, catching
8 points while new teammate Tai Streets brought in 6.
P.W.O.P. put a quick hit on The Pimps offensive surge,
however, when its brand new Falcon defense stripped
18 from The Pimps and scored an touchdown of its own.
This put the visitors in a 25-point hole going into
Monday night, but that didn't seem to phase them. The
Pimps' mighty Packer defense one-upped the Falcons performance,
stripping 22 from the P.W.O.P. and matching the defensive
touchdown. Yet when the dust cleared, there was one
Profiteer to go, and Ahman Green made the most of his
time under the lights. Green rushed for one score and
caught another en route to a game-breaking 14-point
effort that ultimately sends The Pimps home with an
"L".
Stopping a Pimp winning streak is a role the P.W.O.P.
know well; least season, they put an end to The Pimps
8-game run in Week 13. This week 9 defeat sends The
Pimps record spiraling down to 7-1-1, while the win
- P.W.O.P.'s fourth in five games - lifts the Profiteer$
to 5-3-1.

| Thomas' Bock
Boys |
29 |
It had been practically two years since Thomas' Bock
Boys last beat the Irwin Hellions, but on this day they
scratched out a dramatic and emotional 29-26 victory
in Bockville. Irwin, winner of the past three Western
Division titles, is now a long shot at best to four-peat.
Playing without possible league MVP Priest Holmes,
Bock Boy halfback Antowain Smith had a career day, punishing
the Hellions for a Holmes-like 17 points. The rest of
Thomas' offense was held in check, with only Curtis
Conway (6 points) and Jeff Wilkins (9) scoring more
than 3. Irwin had a much more balanced attack, led by
Jimmy Smith and his 9 points. Curtis Martin and Donovan
McNabb combined for 14 from the backfield, but Edgerrin
James was a game time scratch in the lineup, essentially
handicapping the Hellions, who didn't have enough to
recover. Irwin's Buccaneer defense did its job, besting
Thomas' Eagles team 13-9, but it wasn't enough to prevent
the loss. Mayhem broke out all over town following the
game, as the 7-2 Bock Boys increased their lead over
the Hellions to a commanding three games with four to
play. Irwin, now back under .500 at 4-5, needs to win
two of its final four to remain the lone original franchise
to never have missed the playoffs.

| Piana Raze |
46 |
The Piana Raze finally broke into the win column following
eight weeks of futility by out muscling the visiting
Abstract Machines, 46-30. Tom Brady put up his best
effort of the season, slicing through the Machines secondary
for a game-high 18 points. Raze running back Tiki Barber
also had a breakout game, scoring 14 points in the win.
Most of the Machine's offense came from the usual suspects;
Marshall Faulk led the team with 15 points, and Marvin
Harrison roped in an additional 8. The Machines got
another boost on the leg of place kicker Jose Cortez,
who scored 11 in his debut. With the offensive score
tied up, this one fell into the hands of the defense,
where the day belonged to Piana. The Raze's Cowboy unit
put up a stellar performance and outshone its bumbling
Raider counterpart 15-(minus)1. The win lifts Piana
to a not-quite-as-sad 1-7-1, while the loss drops the
Machines to a disappointing 2-5-2 on the year.

| Anderson Brewmeisters |
35 |
Although billed as the Game of the Week, this one offered
little drama as the Anderson Brewmeisters brought their
"A" game and swept the season series from
the rival Stereco, 35-11. Peyton Manning led the Brewmeisters
with 10 points, and he was helped with an additional
14 out of the backfield of Charlie Garner and LaDainian
Tomlinson. In contrast, the Stereco backfield - Michael
Vick, Garrison Hearst, and Ricky Williams - were held
to an embarrassing 5 combined points. Terrell Owens
provided the only highlight footage for the visitors
with his 10 point effort while kicker David Akers managed
to connect for 13 more. Then the Anderson's Steeler
defense hit, stripping 22 big points from the helpless
Stereco, whose own Giant squad could only strip 7 from
the winners. The loss is the third straight for Sims,
who must now, at 3-6, win three of its final four games
to be playoff eligible. The win helps Anderson rebound
from the loss to Jody last week and evens their record
to 4-4-1.

| Naughty Figs |

Jody swept the season series from the Naughty Figs
in ugly fashion, eeking out a 23-18 win over the free-falling
Figs. With Aaron Brooks and Deuce McAllister out on
byes, the C.W.O.T. had to turn to Tim Couch, who posted
a conservative 4 points. Thankfully, Eddie George and
Anthony Thomas stepped up with a combined 15 points
to help secure an offensive edge for Jody. The Figs
struggled all day, having to go without Clinton Portis
and Joe Horn. Rich Gannon managed only a 6 points, but
that was the most by any Fig player. Jody's Miami defense
beat out the Figs' Bears 11-9 to secure the sloppy win.
But that win moves Jody to only a half-game out in the
East at 7-2. The loss, meanwhile, is the fourth straight
for the Naughties, who would now have to win out to
qualify for their first playoff berth.
