Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

The West-leading Thomas' Bock Boys rolled past the
slumping Naughty Figs 40-28 in front of a rowdy crowd
at the University of Florida's Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Bock Boys Priest Holmes showed the young crowd why is
quickly becoming one of the FLF's elite players with
a game-high 17 point performance, which was 11 points
better than what the Figs' Clinton Portis and Lamar
Smith could muster. But what the Figs's lacked on the
ground, they made up for in the air, as quarterback
Rich Gannon severely out shown the Boys' Daunte Culpepper
15-1. The kicking game was in top form for both clubs,
with Bock Boy Jason Elam narrowly out dueling Ryan Longwell
13-12. Thanks to Joe Horn's 10 points, the Figs actually
claimed an offensive advantage before Thomas' Eagles
defense stole the game away by dominating the Figs own
Bear unit 22-6. The win is Thomas' second straight over
an Eastern team and moves the Bock Boys to 5-2, their
best start ever. The Figs suffer yet another tough loss
and drop to a disappointing 2-5, three games worse than
their Week 7 mark of a year ago.

| The Pimps |

The Piana Raze got bucked pretty hard this week at
Boise State's Bronco Stadium, suffering a humiliating
33-0 shoutout defeat at the hands of the East-leading
Pimps. The loss was actually worse than the scoreboard
could allow, as the Raze managed only 18 offensive points
and The Pimps' Packer defense stripped 27 away. Kicker
Mike Hollis made the biggest offensive contribution
of the day, booting 12 points for The Pimps. Jerome
Bettis had 8 and Jerry Rice posted an additional 7 towards
the win. Jamal Lewis posted a team-high 5 point effort
for the Raze, who get shutout for the first time since
Week 1 of 2000. The loss drops Piana to a dismal mark
of 0-6-1 and sets a league record for worst record after
seven weeks. The Pimps, meanwhile, move to a league-best
6-0-1 on the strength of their fourth straight win and,
coincidentally, set a league mark for best record after
seven weeks.

In the week's best game, Jody's C.W.O.T. maintained
their strong start to the season by holding off the
slipping Irwin Hellions, 33-31, at the Louisiana Superdome.
Hometown boys Aaron Brooks and Deuce McAllister did
not disappoint their fans, scoring 30 of the C.W.O.T.'s
45 offensive points. Curtis Martin (9 points) and Quincy
Morgan (7) led the charge for the Hellions, but the
team suffered a big setback when Brett Favre left the
game with a knee injury after scoring just 2 points.
Irwin's Buccaneer defense kept the deficit close by
winning the battle over Jody's Miami defense 15-11,
but Edgerrin James' 7 points Monday Night just weren't
enough to avoid the loss. The win lifts Jody to 5-2
and keeps them hot on the heels of The Pimps in the
East. The Hellions, back under .500 at 3-4, are now
two games back of the Bock Boys in the West and have
already matched their loss total from 2001.

The Anderson Brewmeisters held off Pirk's Wicked Oil
Profiteer$ at Oakland's Network Associates Coliseum
for their first interdivisional victory of the year.
Peyton Manning (4 points) and the Pittsburgh D (12)
held off the Monday Night efforts of P.W.O.P.'s Hines
Ward (10) to secure the win and snap a two-game losing
streak. LaDainian Tomlinson was the true star for the
Brewmeisters, however, rumbling for 15 points to beat
out Ahman Green's 12-point effort. The Anderson trio
of Torry Holt, Eric Moulds, and Jerry Porter combined
for 17 points through the air, taking advantage of a
Saints defense that only stripped 3 points from the
Brew Krew after scoring 35 against the Figs a week earlier.
The win moves Anderson up the ladder to 3-3-1, while
the Profiteer$ drop to that same mark after seeing their
two-game win streak fall by the Bay.

| Sims Stereco |
37 |
The Abstract Machines won their second straight game
by besting the Sims Stereco at Texas A&M University's
Kyle Field, 54-37. The Aggie faithful got to see a whole
lot of Marshall Faulk, who dominated the game with 24
points out of the Machine backfield. Sims' Garrison
Hearst and Ricky Williams combined for a very respectable
18 points, but still fell short of Faulk's heroics.
First year starters Michael Vick and Drew Brees played
strong games, matching each other with 12 points. The
Machines' Corey Bradford had a breakthrough performance
at receiver with 10 points in a game that saw one starting
receiver from each club get shut out entirely. The defensive
efforts from both clubs were average, with the Machines'
Broncos clipping Sims' Chargers 8-7 to preserve the
rout. After going winless in their first five, the Machines
now sit at 2-3-2, only two games back of Thomas in the
West. Sims, meanwhile, drops back below .500 at 3-4,
3-and-a-half games back in the East.
