Week 8 Recaps
Pimps turn back the Boys
The Pimps stretch their winning streak to four by avenging last year's loss to Thomas, and the resurgent C.W.O.T. show no mercy in thumping the Figs. All this and more in...

The Week That Was in Fantasy League Football

Thomas' Bock Boys
18
THE PIMPS
34

It was certainly Week 8's heavyweight bout, and The Pimps put the Bock Boys on their backs, 34-18. Shaun Alexander (8 points) and Rod Smith (11) led the offensive charge for the Feathered Ones, but it was once again the Packer defense that did in their opponent. Outclassing Thomas' Eagles unit 22-15, The Pimps' Packers "D" made sure the Bock Boys wouldn't score their first road win of the season. Thomas only trailed The Pimps offensively by seven points thanks largely to Priest Holmes and his surprising 12 point effort. Yet the rest of the team struggled, with David Boston posting the team's second highest total at 6 points, and interim quarterback Trent Green being good for a mere 1. The win is the fourth in a row for the East-leading Pimps and avenges last season's 25-point loss to Thomas during neutral site week. The loss is the Bock Boys' first in four weeks and evens their record at 4-4.

Naughty Figs

JODY'S C.WO.T.
56

In the Eastern division undercard, Jody's Colossal Waste of Time pulled no punches in destroying the Naughty Figs and avenging a Week 2 defeat. Four C.W.O.T. players - Kerry Collins, Stephen Davis, Anthony Thomas, and Tim Brown - posted double-digit points, and kicker Martin Gramatica added an additional 9. Even Jody's Miami defense found the endzone against the Figs while besting their Raven counterpart 15-7. Unfortunately for the Figs, their own offense was nearly as bad as Jody's was good. Rich Gannon had a stellar Monday night with 15 points, but the other six starters combined for an embarrassing 12 points. The 41-point defeat is the worst ever in franchise history for the Figs, and it knocks them out of first pace for the first time this season; at 5-3, they now trail The Pimps by a game. As for Jody, the C.W.O.T. post the league's best performance for the second consecutive week and move to 3-5 in keeping their slim division title hopes alive.

P.W.O.P.

IRWIN HELLIONS
31

This could be the game P.W.O.P. looks back on after the season as the one that got away. Having only beaten the Hellions once in nine tries, the Profiteer$ entered Monday night with their Denver defense left to go and only trailing the defending champions by five. Yet the Broncos, who averaged 16 points per game in two starts for P.W.O.P., fell dramatically short with only 2 points against. What makes the loss harder to take is that the Profiteer$ actually won the offensive battle behind big games from Jeff Garcia (9 points), Ahman Green (11), and James Thrash (11). The Hellions got a much needed 10 points from Donovan McNabb, but Curtis Martin and Warrick Dunn - in for the injured Edgerrin James - combined for a paltry 2. On the other side of the ball, however, Irwin's Buccaneer unit posted a solid 10 compared to the aforementioned 2 from P.W.O.P.'s Bronco squad. The win is the fifth straight within the division for the West-leading Hellions and fifth straight overall. The Profiteer$ have now dropped two in a row and fall a full four games back of Irwin.

ABSTRACT MACHINES

Piana Raze
6

Another week, another crushing home defeat for Piana. The Raze turned in a league worst 26 offensive points against the Abstract Machines and are lucky to have avoided the shutout given the Machines' unexpected defensive performance. With the Rams off on a bye, Mike and the Mechanics brought in the Dallas "D", and they did a number on Piana with 22 points against and another 6 on defensive scores. The Machines also had strong success on offense; Brad Johnson posted a team-high 11 points, receiver Kevin Johnson chipped in 8, and freshly-inked kicker Morten Anderson booted 9 in helping the team snap a three game losing streak. Highlights were few and far between for Piana; Marty Booker led the team with 7 points, and the Saints defense had a respectable outing at 14, but it wasn't nearly enough to make the game even close. The Machines pull back to .500 at 4-4, three games back of the Hellions in the West, while Piana drops to 3-5 having lost five of its last six games.

Sims Stereco

A. BREWMEISTERS
31

The Anderson Brewmeisters snapped a four-game losing streak by beating the division rival Sims Stereco 31-24 at Saint Arnold Stadium. Peyton Manning and Mike Vanderjagt led the charge for the Brewmeisters with 12 and 13 points, respectively. Receiver Joe Jurevicius brought in 9 of his own as Anderson claimed a 20-point offensive advantage over the struggling Stereco. Sims QB Aaron Brooks, brought in to spell Kurt Warner on his week off, imploded with three turnovers and zero points. Terrell Owens provided the only spark, scoring 12 of the offense's 29 points. Sims managed to own the Brew Crew on defense with their Giants team besting Anderson's Charger squad 20-5. Yet it was too little too late for the Stereco, who couldn't avoid losing their third straight and dropping three games back in the East. Anderson gets its first home win of the season and staves off the elimination talk for at least another week.
